As a farther, I was desperate to have my daughter back back with me in NE. Greg Lake was my attorney. Right after meeting with him I knew that he will fight for me. I worked with Greg Lake on my divorce (at his previous firm). He is not an attorney that will promise you too much, cause consternation with shady tactics, try to confuse you with buzzwords, cost you money with unnecessary motions, and fail to deliver. I used greg lake and For my divorce case. The communication really is. What did it for me every time I needed something It was really easy to email either one of them and if I needed to set up a meeting or a phone call. That was also easily accomplished. Everyone was always so nice and polite. And after dealing with us for 2 years I appreciate the patience. I know that at times I probably asked a lot of questions and had a lot of anxiety.! We ended up Settling outside of court. But I know if we did have a trial that he would have done a great job!

I retained Mike Sands as my attorney at Husker Law for my divorce. The communication and response time was poor. Many times I’d wait well over a week for responses to questions. Child custody should have been as simple as 50/50 or we can go to court and a judge would have awarded that anyways, but I was talked into just settling for less saying it only makes a nominal difference in child support and it’s close enough. Wrong, not only did I lose valuable family time with my kids but there was also a financial impact not just with child support but taxes. Even though the divorce wasn’t final I was stuck with not being able to modify custody or the parenting plan since it went through mediation without objection which also wasn’t explained to me. The financial division was a disaster. He scheduled a settlement conference before even having received discovery from opposing council. There was no preparation, no strategy, no discussion of assets in my name that had premarital stakes. There were so many deer in the headlights moments. I eventually let him go, but had retained him way longer than I ever should have and the damage was already done. I would also take some referrals to their firm with a grain of salt. They pay to show up high on google and their paralegal Janeen is on the Nextdoor app giving recommendations. All in all, Husker law cost me a lot personally and financially for years to come. A divorce is a difficult process and time to go through so make sure you have good representation.

Ryan Steen at Husker Law was AMAZING. Divorce is always messy and Ryan cut straight to the point on difficult issues. His advice guided me through each step of the way. His calm demeanor and quick responses to all of my calls was reassuring. At times he would even reach out to me after normal working hours to clarify issues within the decree. That is what I feel makes Ryan stand out the most to me.
