Mr. Morris and his assistant, Angel, did a fantastic job with amending all of my estate planning documents. Mr Morris gave me great confidence that when I pass on, my Estate will run very smoothly for my trustee(s). They were both very polite, helpful and prompt in returning phone calls and emails. I highly recommend using them for any of your estate planning needs!

Last year my Dad passed away and there were problems with his estate. Before Joe, I hired two attorneys to help me. The first one charged me $2,500 for two letters. The second charged me $10,000, never answered any questions, never sent me an invoice, withdrew from the case and left me high and dry. Joe cleaned up the mess. He ALWAYS returned my calls and e mails. The best $100 I ever spent in my life was for the one hour preview of my case. Joe DID exactly what he said he would do. Joe Gorman is a honest, caring professional attorney. What else would you want in your lawyer? Thank you, Joe.

I came to Trent when I found out that workmans comp wasn't going to do the surgeries I needed done from the injuries I got at work. Trent took on my case and helped me get the best doctors that were on the list and always returned my calls. I have dealt with different attorneys and I have to say Trent is by far the best.. He cares about ur feelings and will fight for you thru it all. I can't explain enough how much he has helped me and if u want someone who knows the law and treats u like you matter. Then Trent Mcauliffe is the only Attorney you need. He is ruthless when he is fighting for you. I am very proud to say he is THE BEST THERE IS!!!!

I don’t quite know where to start or how to thank Trent McAluffe enough, for all the help that he has given to me and my family over the past years. I was injured on the job in 2006. I have had multiple surgeries since then. Without his help I would not have the intervention of the doctors I have now. I have come to know that every doctor has his own option about treatment, and they do not always agree with one another. I have come to realize that the third party administrator‘s (or the employers insurance company) works for the employer and protects there interests only. The States workers comp laws and regulations, are at best, the most difficult and the most unreasonable laws to navigate through. Without Mr. McAluffe’s attention to detail and his outstanding Knowledge of these laws I would not be where I am today. He honestly cares about his clients and their families and wants the best for them. At all times he is prompt in returning my phone calls and can answer any concerns and or questions I may have. It boils down to this folks you need competent counsel to get through this mess that is workers comp, give him a call you won’t be sorry.

I had the pleasure of working with Rafael Mariano on a case related to my work injury, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. From the very beginning, Rafael demonstrated exceptional intelligence and expertise in workers' compensation law. He thoroughly explained the complexities of the case and assured me that it would take time to resolve. Throughout the process, Rafael exhibited remarkable patience and dedication. He kept me informed at every step and made sure I understood all aspects of the case. His guidance and support were invaluable, and I always felt confident that I was in good hands. Thanks to his hard work and persistence, we were able to close the case successfully. I highly recommend Rafael Mariano to anyone in need of a knowledgeable and compassionate workers' compensation attorney. He truly goes above and beyond for his clients.

I was referred to attorney Rafael Mariano due to an accident at work and the fact that my Employer was not respecting my work restrictions. I got a free consultation the next day, he took my case and immediately contacted my Employer and the Insurance company. Also, he found a specialist for me and forced the Insurance company to accept the new doctor. If you had a work accident you should contact his office immediately.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Reno, Nevada?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
