This was my first experience dealing with workers compensation and the Law Offices of Jacob’s,Schwalbe&Petruzzelli,P.C. made it a very good experience. They handled my case in a very swift manner and always kept informed. I would recommend this Law Office to anyone needing representation.

Through the recommendation of a friend, I was initially referred to JS&P back in 2021 following a second surgical procedure on my back. Due to an auto accident, I knew my physical capabilities had become diminished and my ability to carry out my duties of my chosen profession were becoming increasingly difficult. At the time I was 59 years old, and wasn't ideally suited to begin exploring alternative career paths. It was at this point, on the advice of family, friends and work associates, I should begin to explore the possibility of qualifying for social security disability. After weeks of researching the process on my own, I concluded that not only was the process daunting, it could also be overwhelming. Not to sell myself short, I consider my reasonably well educated, and a former federal government employee. But I also understood the process of working my way through the Social Security Disability process was far beyond my scope of expertise. I began making inquiries, hence the referral to JS&P. After an initial call, and within a day I was scheduled for a consultation. Mr. Petruzzelli was engaging, inquisitive and after listening to my medical history, enlightened me to a process that was far beyond anything I would have anticipated. At this point, I cannot stress enough that the attorney made no false promises or had unrealistic expectations. What he did convey was that my case for disability was strong, legitimate and worthwhile for me to pursue. With that, we entered into an agreement ( with no out of pocket expense on my behalf, ) unless the case reached a decision in my favor. Thus began the long journey of applying for disability. Initially being denied benefits twice over 2 years and andependent of JS&P, after researching on my own, being denied is the norm. Online research shows part of the governments reasoning for initial denial is simply to discourage the applicant from moving forward. However, all applicants are entitled to judicial hearing, and with the aid of council, allowed to bring their case before a federal judge. In November of 2023, in a (Zoom style virtual setting) my case was brought before a federal judge. Prior to the hearing, my attorney Ms. Lauren Tovinsky, not only prepped and coached me for the hearing, but methodically outlined and detailed for me my medical history that would be brought before the judge. Without sugar coating or being over dramatic, I cannot begin to reiterate how I was left in complete awe, over her knowledge and understanding of my personal medical history. Simply put, it was if she took my medical history and wrote into a biography. She knew me better than I knew myself. The hearing occurred in early November of 2023. What I was initially struck by was the professional rapport between the attorney and judge. It was clearly evident their was a professional respect for each other. The hearing itself went exactly as the attorney had outlined. It required minimal input on my behalf. Following the hearing, I was contacted by Ms. Tovinsky, and although she would not make predictions as to the outcome, she felt confident that we made a strong presentation to the judge. One additional point I would like to make during this process is you inevitably begin a long working relationship with the attorney's staff. Paralegals, receptionists, medical documentation, etc. Again, it would be impossible to convey how the entire team at JS&P went above and beyond to help me weed through the process. I know anyone reading this is on pins and needles waiting for the outcome. Last Friday, I was notified by SSI that a favorable decision of my appeal had been rendered. This decision will have a dramatic life changing effect on my retirement, both in terms of financial stability and peace of mind. It would not have happened without the skilled and talented hard work of JS&P, particularly Lauren Tovinsky and her team It goes without saying, they come highly recommended.
