Worst lawyer and lawyers office. Will call you for money 400 times a day but will respond you 400 hours later about your case and on top of that they call me and propose money to delete my review!!! unbelievable that these people are lawyers

Though I didn't directly hire this firm...I am compelled to leave this review. I would exercise extreme caution before hiring this firm! The experience with this firm has been horrible. I have never met such irresponsible and borderline unethical attorney's. My husband and I decided to file form divorce early this year and to be on the safe side, we hired this firm to represent him. Margaret Ochner was the attorney assigned to this case. I did not hire an attorney at the time because my husband and I planed for an amicable divorce and there was no need to hire an attorney as we just needed “AN” attorney to file the case for us. From the start this office messed up our case by filing the initial divorce complaint in the WRONG county. Once I brought this to their attention (because they did not even notice), they filed a motion to change venue to have the case transferred with the proper court who had jurisdiction of our case. The motion was rejected because they did not include a certificate of service. So now they file a second amended motion to change venue and again this motion gets rejected because they filed it incomplete! Finally, when our case made it to the proper court, I found it necessary to hire my own attorney because it was clear that my husband’s attorney was completely useless! She then sends an email 30 days after the case is in the proper venue saying that she is filling for a default judgment against me because I did not answer to the divorce complaint! Ludacris! Again, failing to acknowledge that by this point I was already represented. So not only did she mess up our case but then tried to wipe her hands clean by trying to file an improper default. After she is put on notice AGAIN that I am represented, both my husband and I provided her a typed document which covered all aspects of was supposed to be a simple divorce. We provided this document back in May. She represented to my husband that she was working on the final agreement and when we appeared in court for the first time in early November, the Judged scheduled us for a final divorce hearing foe 12.21.2022 TODAY, where he would pronounce us divorced since we already had an agreement in the works. She was given an additional 6 weeks or more to complete the agreement she was supposedly working on since May. We followed up countless times on the status of the agreement and she never provided an update. Then finally she has the nerve to lie and say that my husband has made changes to the agreement (she said this 2 days before the scheduled hearing) which was totally untrue. She then finally sends a FIRST draft of the final agreement less than 48 hours before our final hearing, and wouldn’t you know it… mistakes everywhere even to which she used the wrong pronounce on our child listing her as male instead of female. After countless back and forth with finalizing the agreement, we finally ended up divorced but it didn't come without unnecessary delays and heartache as if a divorce is not difficult already. She definitely made this process completely traumatizing and unnecessarily difficult and she was way over her head in pretending to understand this case. She didn't even know how to file a proper motion to change venue! None of the heartache we experienced should have happened had she been more diligent and ethical. Steer far away from this firm!

What a wonderful firm to work with. They kept me informed every step of the way either by phone or email. They made this process very easy. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again if I needed to. I can't thank them enough for everything that they did for me.

Following a very draining four-year-long dispute over a house that I co-owned with my ex-husband following our divorce, I decided to enlist the help of Herbert & Weiss in order to finally expedite the settlement of this issue. Helene Herbert was instrumental in stepping in, taking charge, and resolving in a few short months what could have taken another couple years on my own. I don’t know what I would have done without her! During the course of my divorce I went through 3 different attorneys (2) of the 3 are located in Bergen County. Zero out of the three fought for me. Matter of fact they all they talked about with me was how much money I will have to pay. Recently I had my child support raised due to COLA’s 2 year review. I was let go due to covid a week later. I filed that motion on my own and it was immediately shot down. I read about Ms. Stacey Torres. Ms. Torres ( as well as the balance of Herbert and Weiss’s) staff spoke about money with me once. From there on out it was all business. Ms. Torres was calm, smart , and most importantly look at me as a human being. She showed sympathy towards my situation and understood that I just lost a job making over $100K a year to collecting while not missing one child support payment. Every email was answered in a timely manner by either Ms. Torres or Ms. London. I can not put into words how Grateful I am to each and every member of this firm. I would not even consider using another firm moving forward. My only regret is that I did not find Ms. Torres 3 years ago to handle my divorce. Ms. Torres will fight for you, respect her, listen to her and trust her. My child support payment was cut in 1/2 until I can find a job that actually pays. I can not say enough about how well this case was handled. Dealing with Ms. Torres was not like dealing with a lawyer. It always felt like I was talking to a good friend who wanted the best for me. I initially required the services of Herbert and Weiss to prepare my will and other related documents. As time passed changes became necessary, and I returned to Helayne Weiss for updates. I have always had confidence in her legal expertise and professionalism. I plan to return to Herbert and Weiss for any future legal needs.

Lori Kolin was about the best thing to happen to me during my divorce. While that doesn’t seem like a very high bar it meant the world to me. I was about ready to throw in the towel when I decided to try a retaining new council. Lori was that council. Lori was very professional and personable at the same time. She found solutions where there seemed to be no hope. Most of all she kept me hopeful even when I was about to give up. While other attorneys I had spoken with had assured me they could get me all I wanted and more Lori kept it down to earth. We discussed real and equitable solutions for me and my spouse and more importantly she kept the best interest of my children in mind. I don’t feel I’m exaggerating one bit when I say that without Lori I could never have had the relationship I have had with my children during the most important years of their lives. She not only made it possible to be part of their lives but she helped iron out an agreement that covered everything past, present and future. She gave me the ability to live my life and to raise my children. I’ve dealt with a few attorneys through two divorces and can honestly say that Lori is the first one that has been completely straight with me and focused on my case from beginning to end.

Lori Kolin went above and beyond what I could have ever expected. I was originally with another firm which left me in more of a financial crisis then when I started the process of divorce. Lori defended me in the courtroom against a very aggressive adversary on multiple occasions. She was extremely professional and also kept the big picture in mind which was to come to a resolution and most of all keep my children safe. She handled a difficult child custody/visitation case and kept her focus on the resolution instead of just creating billable hours. Lori always kept me informed and was available to review my case at any hour, even on weekends. She made the worst time in my life come to a resolution with dignity, compassion and professionalism.
