My situation involved a nasty ex-wife who refused to pay her half (as per our divorce decree) of our daughter's student loans which we cosigned. They came after me for the full amount of the loans plus interest accrued daily. While taking legal action against the ex I asked for a payment plan since the monthly payment required was more than my monthly pension income. The reply was confiscation of my income tax return! Then we met Michelle who gave us hope that we could fight the student loan machine - schools, the government and lenders acting in collusion. Michelle was able to have the debt discharged at a reduced amount. Now I've paid my "fair share", have a clean credit report and can move on with my life.
