Hi All The firm to Geanine Towers are well on point when it comes to your case. Please be very patient when it comes to going to court because it took us sometime due to the covid, others wise then that she very well on point and very easy to talk to and work with. Thanks You Geanine ....

I had three attorneys throughout my Divorce matter. Geanine was the only one that truly listened (not pretended to —like my prior counsel.) She demonstrated compassion, and didn't pile on any B.S. I got the honest truth, good or bad. She's transparent, and strives to do the right thing for you. I came out of my matrimonial matter with a very satisfactory outcome. I highly recommend if you seek counsel that is passionate for your cause.

Geanine and her team worked tirelessly on my case. They treated my daughter and me like family. She developed a successful “shock and awe” strategy to convince my very difficult ex to finally accept the recommendations of 3 law guardians and a forensic expert who recommended changes of custody repeatedly over 14 years. Geanine successfully managed a transfer of the case up to Ulster County and she managed to control costs in spite of the 125-mile relocation and the need to overwhelm my ex with many witnesses including her own brother. I whole heartedly recommend Geanine.

Geanine Towers was an absolute God send in my case. I found myself in desperate need of a lawyer after a family court referee erroneously dismissed my guardianship petition. The court referee was egotistical, condescending, and more concerned with shaming the child’s mother, my relative, rather than considering the child’s welfare. I am a soft spoken individual and entered the court room completely unprepared to argue such a clean-cut case when the child’s welfare was clearly at stake, the mother was consenting, and I offered a stable loving home with absolutely no criminal background. I was in complete shock with the way the case unraveled, but my relatives still needed me so I began to search for an attorney that would be willing to help me get the decision over turned. Being from out of state, I resorted to calling/emailing numerous family law offices. A few responded to my calls/emails, but after I explained my situation none were willing to take on my case. I contacted the last 3 attorneys on my list via email and Mrs. Towers was one of them. Out of the last 3, she was the only one to respond on a Sunday and told me she’d be willing to research my case in order to see if the referee truly erred in her decision. In just a few days I heard back from Mrs. Towers telling me that I indeed had justifiable grounds to appeal and that she would be more than willing to help. She offered such compassion and empathy towards my family situation, and in the courtroom she proved to be a strong advocate. She struck the perfect balance with an extremely difficult referee, respectfully yet firmly letting her know how she erred in the law and she never backed down. We got the dismissal overturned, and Mrs. Towers was right by my side for 2 subsequent appearances and I was ultimately awarded guardianship. I will be forever grateful that she responded to my email and agreed to take on my case. I’ve never felt compelled to write a review before but I just had to in this case. If you’re looking for someone to fight for you the way they would for themselves she’s the one to call!

I was looking for a lawyer to help me with the sale of my first house. I did know where to go so I did an internet search and found Mr. Miller's web site. It was really informative, so I gave him a call. Mr. Miller was terrific and since that time he has been my whole family's attorney. When my wife was injured in a car accident, thank God he was there to help us; when my aunt died he got us through probate; when my son got divorced his firm made sure that things were settled in a fair and reasonable manner. In short, if you are looking for a true family law firm in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, you can ask for none better.

I was recommended to Mr. Miller by a friend when I had some trouble with the police a while back. The police had grabbed me off the street and arrested me for a crime I did not commit - and when I asked to speak to a lawyer - they beat me up so badly that I wound up in the hospital for two weeks. I cannot recommend anyone more highly than Mr. Miller as a top flight criminal and civil attorney. Not only did he prove my innocence, now we are negotiating a substantial civil settlement with the city for the injuries caused by the police. This is why I call Andrew Miller Brooklyn's Best.

I was filled with trust in Aziz Juraev and confidence in his professionalism from the very first consultation with him. This was the first lawyer, at the very first conversation with whom, I had a feeling of confidence in the outcome of the trial. And this despite the fact that he did not promise mountains of gold and did not persuade him to become his client. From the moment the contract was concluded until the judge made a decision, I never doubted my choice. Throughout my journey, Aziz and his team guided me in the best possible way. All documents were submitted on time. During consultations with Aziz and Alexander, I was able to imagine how the court hearing was going and how to behave at it, and I was able to believe that my case was not without hope for success. They instilled in me faith in the American justice system, which can accept even words without indisputable documentary evidence as an argument. All this is possible due to the fact that judges are people too and believe in humanity. At the trial itself, Aziz behaved like a true professional. I am very glad that I made the right choice by choosing Aziz Juraev as my lawyer. I am sincerely grateful to Aziz and his entire team.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Brooklyn, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
