I never imagined that I would be someone who would go through a divorce. When the process started, I was really devastated. Initially I hired a divorce attorney who I thought would be good, but turned out to be terrible, adding to the drama and stress that was already weighing so heavily from the process itself. I needed an advocate that I could trust, not another person who made me feel like I was a burden to them, and creating additional anxiety. It was even more devastating when I was practically forced to fire my first attorney, so I was really in a panic when I needed to find a new, highly competent attorney I could trust. Thank goodness I chose John Whiteman with the Joseph Law Group. I was already one and a half years into the divorce and going nowhere fast. Although my ex and her attorneys were incredibly challenging to come to a settlement (putting things nicely), John was really amazing. It was like night and day compared to my previous attorney. Despite negotiations being fairly contentious, John was able to navigate through some rough waters, and get me to an agreement that was both fair and that I was comfortable signing. John was always accessible and actually listened to my input, and attempted as best he could to incorporate my ideas into our final agreement. In less than 6 months, I went from feeling hopeless, to completing this difficult chapter of my life (just waiting for the court to sign off).
