I do not have enough positive praise for this law firm. Stop reading reviews and CALL THEM!!! They are professional, knowledgeable, they don’t sugar coat anything and will be there for you. Don’t waste your time calling any other lawyer- this is the only firm worth hiring.

I would highly recommend, before I decided to make the call to Barrow Levy I was having terrible anxiety all day long. Once I had made the call, I got a phone call back immediately and he answered all my questions and concerns, took his time to answer everything and made everything very realistic of the different outcomes. I am thrilled to continue with the service. Again would highly recommend.

We retained Mr. Barrows as he had very good reviews and we had a complex custody situation. Mr. Barrows was very responsive at the start, took time during the free consultation, and really appeared to be the best choice. However, once retained, we had significant issues. Mr. Barrows did not contact us prior to the first court appearance, despite us repeatedly reaching out to his office to ensure we knew what we needed going in. Instead, the day of the appearance, his receptionist stated that she did not believe it was an in-person appearance but would let Mr. Barrows know that it was on that day. He reached out to us only moments before the hearing and clearly had to rush to get there because he did not seem to have known about it in advance. He made consultations with other attorneys that we were charged for that were unnecessary (we hired him from Canada; I knew the answer to the question he sought external advice about and he did not consult with us before doing this). My husband, the client, was quite upset about this initial pattern of poor communication but because the reviews were so good, I defended Mr. Barrows actions and hoped that things would be better moving forward. They were not. Mr. Barrows had a consistent pattern of not communicating adequately, of not preparing my husband before appearances, and of not informing him adequately about what to expect or what he would need to do. In fact, I often had to call after receiving an invoice and state that I would not make payment until we received a call back with updates as they often would not return our calls otherwise. The case continuously became more complicated because of inaction and poor communication. In the end, my husband had to settle and even that was a disappointment - after the lengthy drawn out process, multiple court dates, we had no idea it was as simple as both parties signing and the lawyers submitting to the court to withdraw. When they did the work, the work they did was good enough. However, even the settlement document I had to edit myself because there was poor attention to detail and it was obviously a template that was copied/pasted (which we also were billed for the completion of in excess of what the copying and pasting likely would have taken); I had to remove names that were obviously previous clients of theirs and adjust pronouns as my husband was repeatedly referred to as "her". I do not like to leave negative reviews, and honestly, I do not doubt that they are good lawyers, generally. However, communication is essential and we did not get that from this firm. We consulted with a lawyer here in Canada after having issues with our first here not having adequate competence in the area we required. We thought that maybe the poor communication was simply par for the course given our repeated experiences with various firms with this, but after meeting with a responsible and ethical lawyer here who highlighted how egregiously wrong everything had gone because of the poor representation we had received, we realized that what we were experiencing was not just a norm to expect but really inadequate representation. On a positive note, our interactions with Hooeny Heoh who attended an appearance in Mr. Barrows' stead were wonderful and he was attentive, answered questions thoroughly, followed up afterward, and was generally what I would have wanted from a lawyer. *The firm's response is dismissive and defensive. Consistently we would not get responses to very simple questions before scheduled court dates, even about whether or not my husband had to be in attendance or not. Consultation with another lawyer was done without necessity and we were charged for it, whether it was within firm or without. The issue was not with getting the ideal outcome; the issue was that the outcome could have been achieved many months before but we were not given that opportunity or knowledge, specifically because of lack of communication, and thus it was dragged out many months longer thereby causing my husband to miss out on valuable time with the child.
