Everyone has to know about this lawyer!!! Attorney Orbach-Rosenberg is my angel!!! I have no words describe what she did for me! I'm crying as I write as she just won my asylum case! After years of waiting and having incompetent lawyers, Attorney Orbach-Rosenberg was recommended to me by my friend. She took my case and immediately I knew she was going to help me. She is incredibly kind and knowledgable. She explained the case, explained what had to be done. My case was a mess because of the previous lawyer. Attorney Orbach-Rosenberg put everything in order. She did such an excellent job that even our judge who has a reputation of being very tough not only approved my case but said that it was thanks to the excellent work of attorney Orbach-Rosenberg. She is the Best! She truly cares and loves helping people. Trust her and follow what she says. She deserves 10 stars! I will never forget what you did for me attorney. I will always pray for you.

I had a very difficult case, used a US passport that was given to me by my trafficker. No immigration relief was available since I already claimed false citizenship. Went to Raul on Wall St who saw my fear and desperation decided to drain my bank acct. I searched the internet and found attorney Orbach who took my case along with her dedicated staff. They worked tiresomely, getting law-enforcement and the Bx DA to review my case. Miss Orbach went above and beyond reach doing extensive research and case review to get me a favorable outcome. When I tell you I had lawyers tell me that there is 'no way to get legal status' lawyers telling me to "just live off the radar" they were basically telling me to save my money and forget about legal status. Miss Orbach fought long and hard with immigration to get my case approved. This was not an easy case, when I say next to impossible, this is it. When I was exhausted and ready to give up, this team fought harder. They will call you 2 am if they have questions, this is a well organized and dedicated team. This little office is versatile and equip to take on big challenges. In 24 years of living in the USA, I can finally say that I have "legal status." I hope this review can help someone who is facing a desperate situation to seek professional help. Attorney Orbach is "fair in prices, not money hungry and pushy like the big neck Wall St Tycoons. She will not stop fighting until the case is won. I openly thank you and your team, Paul and Joseph you are awesome.

Attorney Orbach-Rosenberg is nothing short of exeptional! She is very smart, incredibly knowledable and experienced. Her and her team really put in the time and effort to win cases. I had a difficult adjustment of status case that was botched by another lawyer. She was honest and confident from the start. She said she will do everything posible to win and she did. She won my case! She came highly recommended by 2 friends whose cases she also won. I am very grateful for her steller representation and highly recommend her services.

Marilyn Orbach-Rosenberg is the best immigration lawyer ever! She is very knowledgeable and experienced. My case was difficult and had many complications. She was always there to reassure us and guide us. If she takes your case she will fight hard for you. I was on the verge of losing my job and she pushed hard to get my papers. And I did! Worth every penny! Thank you Marilyn! We will never forget what you did for our family. 100% recommended!

Mr. Zaidi was instrumental in assisting my Husband and I in navigating the whole immigration process. Having been from a family that was always here, immigration was terrifying to me. I had visions of INS coming to our home in the middle of the night and dragging my Husband away. Aside from filing and appearing in our behalf, he counseled us and calmed our fears and kept us up to date every step of the way. He has become family to us and he is always in our prayers.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Jackson Heights, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
