I was not in a good place when I met Mr. Greenwald. I was a drug addict who couldn't stay out of trouble. Today I am over a year clean living my best life. He has played a big role in that. He wanted what was best for me and believed in me. He also got the three charges I was facing dismissed. In the future if I have any legal issues he will be representing me. Thank you Mr. Greenwald!

Ben is a superb lawyer, an expert in all things law, and an exceptionally warm, caring person. Ben’s name speaks for itself in the courtroom. It is evident that he is highly respected in the local law community on all levels. I trusted him completely to guide me in the right direction to fight my case and the outcome far exceeded my expectations. Ben is by far the best lawyer I have ever worked with. His expertise and intelligence is unmatched and his kindness makes him a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend Ben enough - you will truly feel safe in his hands.

I wish I could give him a 1,000 star review. I was facing very serious felony charges and he was the most honest, hardworking, knowledgeable, easy going attorney that never gave up on me even when I gave up on my own self when times got tough and I can never repay him enough for getting me out of trouble. Much love to you and your paralegals putting all the hard work you did into my case and keeping me up to date with everything that was going on with my case and keeping me calm. If you are ever in trouble please don’t hesitate to reach out to him. I was running through attorneys until I met him in the court room and god bless I did as he took care of me like a brother. I can now continue on with my life from a past mistake. God bless you Ben. Forever my attorney and friend from the day I met you and thank you for always picking up the phone when a serious issue arose 🙏🏻. BEST ATTORNEY OUT THERE!!!

Steven was appointed to me by the court. He is very well respected by every judge. He was able to get a really good plea bargain for me when things weren't looking too great for me. Always on time and on top of things.

Unfortunately over the past several years I have found myself in sticking situations and needing the help of a lawyer. Peter Green has proven himself time and time again to be an excellent criminal defense attorney. He is always my first phone call because I know I can always trust and count on him to not only give me the best advice but to give me and my case the full attention it deserves. His prices are more than affordable and hiring him is definitely worth every penny! I would highly recommend calling him before calling any one else!

I would recommend anyone to Peter Green. He's a great attorney and my family loves him. He got us a good outcome with taking the case to trial and we believed in him just as well he believed in my son. Once again much love he's a good guy.

I'm a single father with sole custody and sole physical custody of my daughter. Peter's hard work and dedication to the case made that possible. Through the long and lengthy court proceeding, Peter was very informative and was on top of the case. The case was on going for 13 months with 26 days of trial. Peter worked very hard for me as I'm absolutely sure he does for all his clients. Not only is he an attorney he has a heart. If you are looking for a dedicated and very knowledgeable attorney, Peter is the guy for any case. Not only was he my attorney but he was like a friend through it all. He fights hard for your rights and listens to everything you say. I can't find, nor will there ever be any words that I can say to thank peter for what he has worked so hard on. I only hope this review can help someone else who is looking for a dedicated non judgmental great attorney on there side for any situation they are in.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Middletown, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
