Ordinarily I am NOT one to do "Reviews" online for services rendered however in certain cases I make an exception. THIS is one of those cases. Even though I'm retired and living in New Jersey, I found myself in need of a Law firm located in New York to handle some legal business for me and my family that was NY Centric. After several inquiries, it turned out that Mr Kutner came VERY highly recommended by people whose judgment I trust implicitly. I chose to go with him and I'm glad I did. His almost 50 YEARS experience handling THOUSANDS of cases across EVERY LEGAL DISCIPLINE enabled him to take an EXTREMELY convoluted situation with at least a half dozen interested parties and effortlessly unravel it and solve the problem perfectly to the satisfaction of ALL concerned. And it was finished in a minimum amount of billable time which was a MOST welcome outcome. Thank God for his efficient skills and honesty. I had DREADED the thought of what a "NY Lawyer" was going to do to an "Absentee" client. Thankfully with Mr Kutner my concerns were TOTALLY UNFOUNDED as his INTEGRITY is BEYOND REPROACH!! JUST as my acquaintances had informed me when they originally recommended him by the way. After my total experience I now would unhesitatingly add MY voice to those who HIGHLY recommended him for ANY Legal issue you have to contend with!

SINCE HIRING THIS ATTORNEY HARRY H. KUTNER JR. , IT’S BEEN ABOUT ELEVEN YEARS AGO THAT MR. KUTNER JR. HAS BEEN FILING COURT PAPERS AGAINST ME TO COLLECT MONEY THAT HE NEVER EARNED. HE DID GET PAID MONEY FROM MY FAMILY ON MY BEHALF WHEN HE WAS HIRED, AND HE NEVER GAVE A CONTRACT TO BE SIGNED. HE SAW MY FAMILY ON MY BEHALF TWICE AT HIS OFFICE AND MAYBE GO ON ONE TRIP TO COURT BUT RESOLVED TO DO NOTHING FOR ME. MR. KUTNER JR. TOOK MY PASSPORT (AS AN ID AND EVIDENCE) ON THE FIRST VISIT. ON THE SECOND VISIT TO HIS OFFICE HARRY H. KUTNER JR. TOLD MY FAMILY THAT HE WOULD NOT RETURN MY ID IF HE DOES NOT GET A CERTAIN LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR IT. MY FAMILY AND I NEVER MADE ANY AGREEMENTS WITH HARRY H. KUTNER JR. TO PAY THIS MONEY FOR A PERSONAL ITEM THAT HE FAILED TO RETURN WHICH RIGHTFULLY BELONGS TO ME.

Hired Kutner to handle a case. He would never return calls, ignored emails, made false and misleading statements about his progress, failed to work on the case, and eventually abandon the causing great financial harm. After he abandon the case, we a hired new attorney, he subsequently then refused to hand over case files, and he even disparaged us to new counsel.

Ignored case law, ignored descrepencies in police report and procedure including official misconduct, and excessive use of force. I immediately asked for a lawyer. Police lied in 'RIGHT' to make phone call until they were ready to throw me in the cell for the evening and was elbowed to the ribs to say I resisted arrest to the desk sergeant "as to why I had visible injuries" there's so much more. A urine test disappeared in the midst of DA Kathleen Rice's office was under Federal Investigation! I didn't blow either time but whilst getting patched up at the hospital from excessive use of force I was given the choice of peeing in a cup or my pants, the cup specimen disappeared. The cops wrote on the report that I refused my phone call that I made at 11:30 PM I was arrested at 1:30pm. Do the math after the tune of $18,000 I received the same deal I was offered for Free from a Legal Aid Attorney and I still did a year in jail, w/no probation. Legal Aid are usually better!

Peter Baron is a top notch lawyer. My personal injury case was handled meticulously and professionally. Peter’s hard work got me a sizable settlement for my injuries, against a very difficult car insurance company. Peter was always compassionate and understanding regarding my injuries, and fought for my justice to no avail. Thanks to Peter, I have recovered funds for all the time off from work and medical expenses, as well as pain and suffering. I highly recommend the Law offices of Peter Baron should you fall victim to personal injury, he will fight for your rights and get compensation you deserve.

Amazing result on a cell phone ticket. I was looking at 5 points and heard through a friend that NY Ticket Defenders is great at resolving any type of traffic ticket. I paid their fee and they said they would handle everything. A month later I received a call that the attorney filed a motion to dismiss and it was granted in its entirety. Well worth every penny and so easy .

I just wanted to leave a quick review here because I picked Scott because of the reviews on this website he is not only a good attorney but a good person I hired him because of a nonsense arrest in which I received an appearance ticket for, and when I needed to go get fingerprinted I was apprehensive and afraid to go on my own so Scott came with me which is something I'm sure most attorneys would not do so if you need not only a good attorney but a decent human being you can't go wrong with him. I appreciate the hand holding throughout this whole experience because I'd be lost.

Our son was falsely accused of Title IX violations at college. His future was at stake. We knew we needed to hire the right lawyer to defend him. We hired Scott and not only did he defend and advise him, but we won the case and all charges were dropped! The cost of hiring him was an excellent investment. Scott was honest, professional, extremely knowledgeable and the right man for the job. He made my son comfortable throughout the terrifying experience. Highly recommend him.

After talking to many attorneys that were judgmental and left me anxious and worried. I finally spoke with Scott Limmer and he was so supportive, and did not judge the situation not one bit. He alleviated all my anxieties about it. He is reliable he answers back expeditiously and helps you get your case dealt with as soon as possible. In my case I went from calling lawyers to actually seeing court in a matter of 1 day. He cares about his clients and cares to alleviate their fears about the charge and process. He’s so honest he actually told me he wouldn’t want to take my case since a regular legal aid could take the case and there’s nothing to worry about and he wouldn’t want me to spend money getting something this simple resolved . He even explained what the legal aid would say and do along with the entire process. He advised me even though I was not his client and was giving me advice for another attorney. I immediately hired him ON THE SPOT and he gave me a discount since he felt it still unfair to take my money. I never spoke with a lawyer that actually looks out for your well being. I could’ve cried and I did. He understands that mistakes happen but also understands the unfairness of harsh punishments. The day of court I actually found out the case was already closed. And even though we spent 2 days prepping and talking over the phone the morning of he refunded me all of the money spent for his fee. He’s an angel and a godsent. He also understands the legal system extremely well and can explain it in layman terms which was a relief after talking to other lawyers that were rude, seemed almost annoyed to converse, were negative about the outcome, judgmental, and overpriced. Scott Limmer is the most amazing lawyer that actually cares about his clients and I would hire him again in a second if I ever got into any trouble. You should too!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Mineola, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
