Brian, I wanted to express my sincerest gratitude for your exceptional assistance in resolving the traffic tickets. I was looking at 7 points on my drivers license and I ended up with Zero points. Your expertise not only saved me from unnecessary stress, but also ensured a satisfactory outcome. I am more than pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend your services to anyone in need. Thank you once again for your invaluable help.

Brian was truly amazing! I received a voicemail when first calling his office and about 10 minutes later he called me back eager to help me out. I’m a service member serving in a different state and he was able to do all things needed in order to close my case! I’m thankful for Brian and the constant communication as well as his how quick he was able to work this for me!

Pros
1
Effective in avoiding serious charges and penalties
“He was able to get the charge knocked down to a lesser offense and because of that I was able to keep my job, and will be able to get one again if I needed to.”
2
Thorough and patient in handling cases
“He was thorough and patient, and was able to get me through the case the right way when other attorney's would have just taken my money and tried to rush a quick result.”
3
Knowledgeable and great at explaining legal matters
“Mr.Reddy is very knowledgeable and great at explaining possible outcomes for your case. Before talking to Mr.Reddy I was completely oblivious on the matter and anxious, not knowing what could happen to me. After speaking with him for a couple of minutes I can definetely say I feel more knowledgeable.”
4
Trustworthy and dedicated to client's best interests
“William J. Reddy is super trust worthy and will keep in touch with you. Expensive, but will get the job done without much to worry about.”
5
Able to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
“Mr. Reddy did great work on my case. He was able to convince the ADA that my case was a "bad search", which was pretty much the only way it could have been dismissed, which it was. Without that dismissal, I would have had to get a criminal record.”
Cons
1
Expensive legal fees
“Expensive, but will get the job done without much to worry about.”
2
Potential for incompetence and lethargy in handling cases
“The truth of the matter is that Mr. Reddy is incompetent and lethargic when it comes to completing the paperwork that is expected of a lawyer. I was charged $5,000 for his services and nonetheless walked out of the court with five years probation, a felony on my record, two-hundred forty hours of community service, and restitution payment of $34.13 (the judge said this broke the record for smallest restitution payment during his practice).”

I used Ms. Hilowitz for the past 6 years on a complicated trust dispersal after the death of a family member. I was the Trustee. She handled it with expertise and patience seeing it to its amiable conclusion for all concerned even when dealing with exceptionally difficult counsel from other parties. Thank you!

It is without hesitation or reservation as a former and long standing client of Ms. Lynne S. Hilowitz that I highly recommend her legal services. She is an outstanding community minded and long time resident of Rockland County who has taken leadership roles within the legal community as an active member of several associations. Ms. Hilowitz is extremely capable in her understanding and knowledge of law along with all of the necessary applications; she is also perceptive, genial and all around refreshing to work with. Ms. Hilowitz has the utmost in professional and ethical standards along with the ability to sift through complicated issues. She listens affably to her clients with a keen, considerate ear. Ms. Hilowitz is not only a genial, accomplished attorney but has the ability to interpret and explain complicated legal matters in clear, logical and comprehensible terms giving her clients more than a reasonable down to earth understanding of all aspects associated with their individual issues and needs. Ms. Hilowitz is an attorney I put my faith and trust in during a very difficult time it was a choice I made without regret! Anita DuJohn-Sims

I couldn't be happier having Daniella V. Pascaru representing me in my workers' compensation and Social Security Disability cases. She worked so hard making sure I received the all of the benefits I deserve. I've been dealing with NY workers compensation for over 20 years. I had previous lawyers represent me, but they never seemed to interested in what I needed long-term. What sets Daniella apart is her ability to stay focused and see the big picture, and maintained open communication, keeping me updated on the progress and answering every question I had. She was there for me, every step of the way, through one of the most challenging times of my life. Securing Social Security Disability benefits was not as easy a process as I thought it would be, especially during covid times, but her persistence and thorough approach ultimately led to success. Additionally, as my workers' compensation case nears its conclusion, I am confident in her ability and know there will be a favorable outcome. I highly recommend Daniella V. Pascaru to everyone in need of exceptional legal service. Her unwavering advocacy and genuine concern for my wellbeing has made her someone I trust to navigate the complexities of workers' compensation and Social Security Disability law.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of New City, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
