Finding an immigration lawyer is not easy. I had heard so many horrible stories of people getting ripped off or having disastrous outcomes that I approached the whole idea on the defensive. We got a few quotes in from the internet and the fees were quite exorbitant and when we chatted with the lawyers we didn't really feel reassured that it would be a smooth process. We heard of Rachel through a friend who mentioned that she had done a great job in getting my friend's Brazillian's best friend and their fiancé processed and she avidly recommended her. Getting an appointment was quite easy as Rachel and her firm of wonderful paralegals (Secia & Katherin - Thank you so much!!!) work very hard to be available to their clients around the clock, even for emergencies. Rachel was able to propose to us different plans for my immigration process giving me the different options that were available to me; the timeline involved, as well as the costs associated. When we found out that she offers payment plans on top of her great services we knew she was the one. It was wonderful to finally feel safe knowing that our Lawyer is also a firm LGBTQIA+ Ally and was amongst the first lawyers to marry immigrating LGBT couples in New York City. Once we agreed on the fees and the payment plans, Rachel offered to also marry us without it being an extra cost which we really found wonderful of her to propose. It made us feel secure that this wasn't the kind of firm that would try to upsell us any services. Rachel and her team were present every step of the way, documents were pre-filled for us, folders were created easily for us to upload our evidence. They guided us through the process and when I realized how heavy the process is, I am quite grateful we chose to go this route instead of trying to do it on our own. They really know what they are doing and the timeline was even shorter that I expected. Soon was I married that in just five month I received my work permit and social security number and in less than the expected year (10 months) I had received my green card. While Rachel had mentioned that sometimes there is a tough interview with immigration and that she would coach us in case we were uncomfortable in such a setting, specially being prodded about our intimate relationship. It turned out that as everything was filed perfectly and as Rachel's team had done such a wonderful job, that we got the green card and the interview had been waived. I whole heartedly recommend their services. They care about love and have a plan for anyone and work very closely to make it work. I will be giving her a call in a couple of years for the exciting next steps to my journey. Thank you Rachel!
