After our motor vehicle incident with our son and having it out of county, we did not know who to call. I have many trusted law enforcement partners in the the surrounding counties so I reached out to three of them and all three said, "call Angelo Rose". One of these contacts even said "you absolutely need to call Angelo Rose". We are glad we did. Angelo met with us in his office to quickly ease our anxiety about what might/could happen and in the end, Angelo was very close to spot on with what did happen. Angelo knows the law and what turned out to be equally important, Angelo knows the DA's to work with and his advice along the way has been right on point. We actually liked him so much that we are going to use him as our attorney for various legal documents and hopefully, we never do but if we need a lawyer, we would say our lawyer is Angelo Rose on the spot. If you need a lawyer, you need to call Angelo, hands down!

Angelo represented me in a difficult DWI case. I have never been in any legal situation before and I did not know what to do. He was there to guide me during difficult moments in the case. It was a very stressful time and he probably had his hands full dealing with me, but he was always patient and addressed my concerns. He was able to get the charges reduced. There is no other lawyer that I would go to for representation. Thank you Angelo!

I couldn't have asked for a better representative on my behalf. During my proceedings, Angelo explained where we were not only in the princess, but also explained all of my options perfectly. His conduct was extremely professional and understanding when I had questions or concerns, and was always called back quickly if I had a problem I could figure out on my own. I would highly recommend Angelo to anyone who needs one of the best attorneys anywhere. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Angelo is the best guy you will find to help you for whatever your needs may be. Not only is he well known and respected in his industry, he is a great person that truly cares about helping people. He was able to help me achieve an outcome that I did not think was possible, and I cannot thank him enough. I have ready plenty of positive reviews regarding similar experiences with Angelo, and I could not agree more. I look up to him and see him as a friend after all - thank you again, Angelo!

Very smart and got a great result but did not always call me back right away. He says that he only calls when he has something to say. I forgave him right away when we got the results though.

If I could leave Joe Rossi a million 5 star reviews, I would because I’ve never been more impressed with an attorney. From the time I emailed him to the time he called me, was about an hour. That never happens with attorneys but he took on our situation without hesitation and we were able to get the outcome we wanted. Time is of the essence when it comes to business matters and we are forever grateful. Thank you so much!

We reached out to Kammholz Rossi after our mother died from complications from a routine hernia surgery at URMC and we could not have been happier working with Joseph Rossi. He was compassionate during a difficult time and clearly explained the process and was realistic in what we might expect as an outcome. He was efficient and professional throughout the entire two-year lawsuit. He clearly has extensive experience working both in wrongful death litigation but also with URMC, knowing how to best communicate and negotiate with the risk manager there. We felt he was very thorough in investigating the cause of our mother's death and adept at hiring appropriate external experts. He provided a thoughtful, smart analysis of the case. I can't imagine working with anyone else and I highly recommend Joseph Rossi and associates.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Victor, New York?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
