Less than a year ago I approached Lakota Denton for legal assistance with a difficult Workers' Compensation claim involving a complex occupational disease that I developed as a result of the labor I did and the work load I maintained for eight years at my former Job. (www.minicklaw.com) Attorney Denton was kind enough to give us a single consultation for guidance and to discuss our obligations and rights related to an automobile accident, a five vehicle accident for which vehicle #1 was charged by troopers. We both have injuries that are just beginning to heal and we were unsure about whether we needed to be represented by an attorney at all and if so would the attorney need to practice in the state in which the accident occurred. Attorney Denton advised us in a very methodical manner on just what we needed to do. Our minds are much at ease now that we have some answers and direction, some of which we would never have thought about on our own. We would certainly return to Minick Law for any legal problems we might have in the future. We went to this law firm initially because of an acquaintance with James Minick’s parents but would go there again because of the very positive experience with attorney Denton.

My wife and I were involved in an accident on May 1, 2012. We were not at fault. I contacted my insurance company for assistance and information. The only assistance and information I received was that since another Insurance Company was involved that they could do "nothing" and that I have to deal with the other company. We had large Dr. bills because there was serious injuries and operation from the injury. We had med pay on our policy. I researched and found that I felt that this was available to help in situations like this. Was told that it did not apply and that if it was used that my premiums would go up if I filed a claim and the they would subrogate the payments to recollect the monies if I filed for them. I contacted my insurance company and requested a "complete" copy of my policy so I could see if that indeed did apply. I was told that they could not supply this. I pursued this further and was told that they would have to contact corporate and that they did not usually give out that information. We researched on the net and found several articles in regard to N.C. law that refuted all the above claims about Med Pay. We came across a web site with Minick Law Firm. I entered the information on the web site about what I was experiencing. I almost immediately received a phone call from the Law Firm wanting more info. I was then told that a Lawyer would call me soon. To my 'dis-belief" it was within a couple of hours that Lakota called me. He listened to my info asked questions and then told me what the N.C. law was and that we indeed did qualify for Med Pay and that they could not subrogate the claim. He was pleasant, disciplined and confident. I knew that this was a trust worthy person. I contacted my agent who said I should not file a claim because they were not responsible to pay this. I contactek Lakota and he gave me the wording to use in a letter with the claim I was going to file. I filed the claim and received a call from the insurance adjuster who told me I did not have a valid claim. I filed the claim anyway. I receive a call from my insurance company again denying that they were responsible for the pay out. I called Lakota and relayed this to him. He requested that I send him a copy of my insurance policy and that he would "personally" contact the agents. While I was scanning in the information I received a call from the Insurance Claims Agent that said that we would be paid and that they would honor the contract per N.C. law. I called Lakota to let him know and found out that he had made a call to them. Haven't received the check yet but I fully expect to. Lakota told me if I did not to call him and he would pursue this because "Yes" they owed us the payout. I have never liked having to deal through a law firm but from now on I will and it will be Minick Law and my attorney will be Lakota Denton. thank you for reading this.
