I am old enough to have a hand in several estate planning exercises with family and myself. Carolina Family Estate Planning is the most comprehensive I have experienced. They stay in contact with you, are sympathetic to your delays, help you through the difficult parts and produce a final product that is second to none. It is a first class organization who puts the client first. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Recently my better half has been hinting that we need to get our wills drafted since we have young kids and we have also been acquiring a decent little real estate portfolio. I called a few estate planners in town. Carolina Family Estate Planning(CFEP) offered information sessions about every week or so and so I scheduled to attend this. It was an informative 75-90 minute presentation on multiple aspects of estate planning and things you should be considering. There was no pressure to buy anything during the seminar or even afterwards, they politely asked if we would want to setup a followup meeting to schedule our initial one-on-one consultation. Carroll and Jeanine were the client welcome specialists and were awesome as they stayed touch constantly getting things scheduled and prepared for the next steps. This consultation, called a "Vision Meeting" was a pleasant hour long intro to get to know my family, our needs and goals. I believe there was a $175 charge for this but they gave you a $100 voucher if you came to the initial presentation. Ours lasted a little over 90 minutes with Heather as we had a little more involved situation. After this meeting is when they present you with several "plans" that would suit your needs. I.e. just needing wills or POA's or more involved and needing trusts for various entities. They each have a different price point and go through each of them with you. They asked us at that point if we did want to move forward an engage them to set up our Plan. We told them we would go home to discuss what to do and look over the options. I called back the next day and sent in the engagement letter. After that you go to the "Design Meeting" where you meet with one of the lawyers for 2 hour or more depending on the complexity. Ours was Kellie. She did a great job going over all our options and explaining different scenarios and what may be "typical" and pro and cons of each possible selection. They go through the who/what/where/how of your assets and where you would like everything to go. Medical POA's, living wills, etc are all covered if you elected those options. It then takes them a few weeks to prepare all the documents and clarify any changes that you may have made since the meeting. You'll then go back for the "signing meeting" where you'll sign everything and have it notarized there. Then you'll work with your funding coordinator to get everything moved over that they weren't able to handle themselves. But they refiled our deeds as necessary and sent in other bank docs. Going to the DMV to change title is the only time consuming thing you'll need to do yourself if you re-title your cars. But we walked out with a 10 inch stack of binders, wills, trusts, etc and a much sounder piece of mind. CFEP was always extremely nice and courteous. Followed up when necessary and even then some when I hadn't finished some items on my part. There was never any pressure to do anything we didn't want or up sell us anything. They don't charge by the hour so you don't have to worry every time you send an email if that was another $500 charge like with most lawyers. I had even inquired about a particular trust I had heard about and they looked into it no questions asked and told me it was basically bunk. If you need anything from just a simple will to a more complex estate plan, which ours was, I wouldn't go anywhere else.

After postponing for two decades we finally made the effort to get our estate properly organized. On the recommendation of my former CEO we worked with Carolina Family Estate Planning. We could not have been more happy with our decision. What seemed to be an impossible task was efficiently facilitated by the team of professionals at CFEP. The level of competence combined with patience and friendliness displayed by the entire team was off the charts. Additionally, follow-up and future maintenance of our estate is readily and reasonably available. The 'peace of mind' we have after working with CFEP is hard to describe.

After the abrupt passing of my father and before my family and I could even come to terms with our loss, we were served an elective share claim to my father's estate only weeks after his passing. As executor I was blindsided by this claim and didn't know where to turn or what to do in hopes of preserving my father's will and my family's rightful inheritance. The professionals at Carolina Family Estate Planning immediately knew how to handle such a unique and sensitive situation and advised me to a resolution that worked in favor for me and my family in a very timely manner. We are so satisfied that we recommend them to anyone in need of estate planning, administration, or resolution.
