The bottom line - Bill Powers is THE BEST criminal attorney in this area. He is THE MAN. Your future is too important to use anyone else. Normally, I don't put much stock in Internet reviews. Particularly as a surgeon - I have seen too many medical professionals with reviews that simply don't correspond to what I know about them. Anyone who has had a bad meal in a restaurant with great Yelp reviews knows what I mean. When I need a recommendation, I go to people in the know. So when I was arrested for DWI for sitting in a parked car with the radio on in a town in Mecklenburg County, I asked my divorce attorney who to use. I asked the lawyer who represented me before the Medical Board who to use. And most importantly, I asked the premier DWI attorney in Forsyth County (who I had used previously for speeding tickets) who to use. Without hesitation, they all gave me the same name - Bill Powers. I will never forget what one of them told me - "Bill is the guy the judges use." Mr. Powers and the rest of his staff lived up to their billing every step of the way. They were thorough, meticulous, and relentless. Emily Bretz, the associate in charge of revocations, swung into action immediately and got me my license back in 5 days. At every turn over a grinding 20 month process, Mr. Powers proved himself to be a master of the law, the personalities, and the tactics, until we finally won the case. Mr. Powers didn't quit until he got me my life back. Mr. Powers also communicates with you. His office is well run and responsive. He reliably answers email in a timely fashion. And remember- there is ALWAYS a reason for what he is doing, and it is ALWAYS in your interest. By the end of the process, I would just sit in court calmly repeating my mantra to myself: "In Bill I trust." Everything I worked for in my entire life - my career, my ability to serve my patients, the good I do in my community - was jeopardized by a ridiculously technical aspect of an incredibly bad, highly politicized law. I used to think that as an American citizen I had 5th Amendment rights under the law, and that the courts are reasoned and thoughtful. I was wrong. I thank God that Bill Powers was there to protect me. Any idiot can reduce a speeding ticket and get a 5 star review. When you have a real problem, get Bill Powers. The judges do.

Mr. Powers is an outstanding lawyer and his representation vastly exceeded my expectations. He was able to get my DWI charge dismissed under the most difficult of circumstances. His knowledge of case law and ability to capitalize on the opposition's mistakes are truly jaw dropping. Please don't hesitate to seek his counsel when the odds are stacked against you!
