I setup an appointment for an initial consultation with this law office and after filling out their intake form they sent me a document with a "Condition of Free Consultation". This document indicates that, "Obtaining a free consultation with the intention of filing bankruptcy without an attorney is an act of fraud and deception". If I decide to file without an attorney after receiving the free consultation they would "assume that I was acting in bad faith in obtaining a free initial consultation, and that it was my intention to obtain valuable services without paying for them, in which event, I understand I will be billed for the normal consultation fee of $150.00 and that I will also be responsible for all punitive damages, attorney fees and collection costs awarded in regard thereto."
To be clear, at the moment, it is my full intention to file bankruptcy with an attorney, as my case has a number of complications that I believe would make it difficult to file without an attorney. I do not have the intention of filing bankruptcy without an attorney. However, I am still in the early stages of learning about bankruptcy and exploring all of my options. If I learn that there is a cheaper option (pro bono or pro se) that is feasible in my case, I would absolutely explore this option. For them to say they would, "assume that I was acting in bad faith" "if I file bankruptcy without an attorney" is simply bad faith on their end and an attempt to bind me to their services despite offering a "free consultation".
Again, at the time of writing and contacting their firm, I have all intentions to file for bankruptcy with an attorney but if new information is gained after a "free" consultation that leads me to believe I don't need their services (their services are not of value to me), I would not want to be in a binding contract that does not allow me to file on my own or with pro bono representation and assumes I was acting in bad faith.
Needless to say I did not go through with the "free" consultation and did not sign their binding contract.

Listen, I need to share my testimony. I was almost ready to just give up from being so overwhelmed by debt due to unfortunate events in my life. Mind you, I had not contemplated bankruptcy at all, upon doing research on how I could save my vehicle from repossession I stumbled onto John T. Orcutt Law offices website. I then remembered seeing his commercials on TV a while back. Most businesses you see of this status just treat you like a case or a number.. nevertheless, I said hey let me submit my info and look into filing Bankruptcy at this point I'm so deep in debt what do I have to lose, the consultation was free.
I got a call from a wonderful lady (Morgan) the very next day to start the consultation process and she was an Angel, I was very broken when explaining my situation she literally prayed for me on the spot and comforted me, I was convinced at this point I was in the right place God needed me to be. I proceeded with the process (Connie) another beautiful soul did the evaluation to see what options were best for my situation, she also comforted me and made me feel like a human being and to encouraged me that I can overcome everything I am going through, she educated me on the legalities of Bankruptcy and how it is there to protect consumers etc. I began to see and feel hope. I'm all in!!!
Once ready to File, I encountered another lady (Merita) she was just as patient, informative an personable the entire process. I can not say enough about these ladies. They not only are professional and great at what they do. But they actually care!!! This is the best decision I could have ever made. John T. Orcutt Law Offices is the way to go if you are in need of Debt relief. And did I mention I started on a Friday and by the next Friday I was filed and protected!! 2024 is my winning season, I'm claiming it!! God bless you all! this has been a wonderful experience by far!!

Started the process and was assigned an attorney who has not responded to multiple requests. We were waiting on my out of state pay stubs, which I then provided. I reached out again and was told she would be back to me the next morning...that never happened. I'm reaching out to other firms because this is ridiculous.

I have been looking into filing bankruptcy for awhile. I have had consultations with different law firms. Odd as it seems those other firms were more focused on getting their money first. It was just so expensive to start so I gave up. Then I found John Orcutt site. I read zero down and no fees upfront. I said ok what’s the catch? Even said free consultation. I told myself I bet if I call something about my situation would void all the “no money down” etc. So I decided not to bother calling. Something kept telling me to call. Worst that can happen is another disappointment. Let me tell you! I called and got setup with my free consultation just like advertised. I explained my situation and was asked some questions .I wanted information on chapter 7 and chapter 13 to see what my specific situation would work. Once I knew the best solution for me I was assigned in my opinion the best Bankruptcy Paralegal Merita A. Blakeney. She always made sure I knew how to reach her. What I loved about having my own paralegal work my case was this. Merita and I always spoke. It wasn’t please hold for first available paralegal. I didn’t have to repeat myself and story over each time I called. Nobody wants to play phone tag and repeat the same story over again because they connect you to first available paralegal. When we started and I got my list of documents needed to start preparing my case I noticed something. Merita had a goal date to have the documents she needed and she had a targeted file date. Of course it was up to me to get her what she needed and the right items. Merita professionalism, kindnes, compassion and patience was amazing. She was my calm in the storm. If I had questions I knew I could call or email. Another Quality that’s hard to find with lawyers and paralegals is them saying one thing vs doing. When Merita told she was emailing me something or she would have something done by certain time. Merita rocked it!! She never let me down and never took days to respond to me. Although I was never her only client and case. The attention and time she devoted to my case made me feel like I was her priority. So if you have hesitated on bankruptcy because of other firms. Please call John T Orcutt. Give them a chance. With my case Merita was awesome and for my type of filing the zero down not a penny to start sealed the deal. When other firms don’t get it John T Orcutt does. Thank Merita you guys removed a ton of weight off my back.

I found the Law Offices of John T. Orcutt through a referral site called AVOO, and had found Koury Hicks, one of the attorney that works for this firm.
The engagement was great. My initial consultation with Connie Nichols was excellent, she was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable.
Once things were started, I worked with April Ayscue, a paralegal at the firm. April was amazingly responsive by email, answered every question in a clear and straight forward manner, and had impeccable tact (both by email and when we spoke on the phone). Just as with Connie, it was an excellent interaction that put me at ease and made me feel confident about the process.
Koury Hicks was very personable when we spoke. Lawyers typically are juggling a lot of cases, but he still took the time to have a little side chat that we had dovetailed off to from a question he asked me. He was also clear about the potential outcomes, making sure there would be no surprises.
While the paperwork itself can be intimidating, this is a legal matter in one of the most litigious countries in the world, so that's to be expected. They did their best to make it clear and straight forward, it is just a voluminous amount of paperwork. Thankfully 99% of it was all electronic/PDF!
I definitely recommend this firm if you are considering any kind of bankruptcy.
