Hired Joe Peterson. I chose another attorney for several phone calls/emails not returned, not having processes clearly explained, not being made aware of all possible solutions, feeling he was requesting all possible negotiations/solutions come from me instead of my ex and his attorney (and would have preferred my attorney to actually come up with them instead of me or be more proactive and work with me on what is ideal) and did not support me as active duty military specific to prioritizing aspects of my case to avoid further complications with the possibility of deployment/PCS/TDY. Paid $6k and the only thing done out of the contract was minimal. I scheduled my own custody mediation, and I wasn’t getting child support at the time but nothing within the time frame he was my attorney happened. When I did get child support, it was very little and overall it was a struggle financially. To not have an understanding of the process was really disappointing especially after I requested via email what I needed. Ultimately, majority of the contract wasn’t fulfilled. After a month of no responses after several attempts to get a meeting, and a phone call from his paralegal stating my case wasn’t priority (despite deployments coming up and need for custody arrangement in place), I decided to find new representation. I felt pressured into agreeing to custody arrangements since I didn’t understand the process, and I felt if I didn’t agree then we would go to trial which was terrifying because I didn’t understand the process nor did I know what was going on. My perception is he is too busy to care about spending time on helping me understand my case (which is demonstrated by the numerous emails I sent guessing at what documentation he would need with very little response in return) and his paralegal made it known to me I wasn’t a priority case, and because of the possibility of deployment and TDY/PCS with the military, I didn’t feel like he respected the military lifestyle or could help me-I don’t think he is aware of military laws/processes. I wish I had known ahead of time this would not be a good fit. I wish he would have believed in more frequent communication rather than the few emails I received. I appreciated the few emails I did receive but ultimately they weren’t enough to ease my mind or make me feel confident with my circumstances. I also wish he would refund me a partial amount because by not doing so, it only shows he is okay with me spending $6k for two temporary custody agreements and me providing documentation that he never asked for. By not giving a refund for the contract/things he said he’d do but ultimately didn’t, it demonstrates a very harsh reality to my circumstances that I guess I’ll have to swallow and accept as a life learning lesson since refunds are not likely with this law firm. I felt he dragged out the case longer than needed with very little communication. My new legal representation was able to get discovery drafted very quickly, wrote up a new consent order, and had the ball rolling for child support (all for less than $6k) shortly after hiring whereas shortly after hiring Mr. Peterson I was still waiting on what the next steps were. no custody mediation was scheduled and no discovery paperwork ready. If it was, I was not notified-in my opinion I’d likely still be waiting. These are my first hand experiences, and hopefully this can be taken constructively to improve interactions with future clients.

Used them for a no contact order summons. They wouldn’t even contact the holder before the court date to try to get it dropped. I live 4 hours away and had to take off work. Waited in the court room for hours until my case was called. Then just as expected my lawyer finally spoke with the holder and it was dropped. Wasted my money and time.
