Wow John Fanney is the best DWI lawyer in Wake County! There are so many lawyers that will take your money and roll over and plead guilty, which you could do yourself.... John is a master of the law and if there is even a little mishap by the officers you have a great chance to get off. He knows the ins and outs of the law. In October I got a DWI and thought I was done for sure. John was able to go to trail get my BAC results suppressed. Then we came back a month later and beat the case because the state had no BAC. He is a magician and will work with you on finance as well. Tell John his buddy Matt Cutts sent you!

John Fanney is the most experienced, most compassionate, and most knowledgable lawyer that you can hire for criminal cases in Raleigh. Throughout the entire process, John was responsive to emails, helpful with suggestions, and offered top-notch insight and guidance. Beg, borrow, hack, steal -- do whatever you can to be able to hire him; you won't regret it.

The most important thing you can do at this point is hire the best person to represent you and if you're in Raleigh that is is John Fanney. John is the perfect mix of honest, gentle, yet will fight hard for your case. Anytime I needed anything John and his office were responsive and he always made sure I felt comfortable with our next steps. He dumbed down the lawyer-speak for me to understand what was going on in court and the entire legal process. It took over 16 months but my case was dismissed. No other lawyer I spoke with in my research would have made that happen. He is worth every penny.

My son got a DWI at a checkpoint with the onsite mobile BAT unit. I had gotten one myself some years earlier, represented by a former Wake County DA. The case was continued once and then we walked into court and without so much as a word from my attorney I was found guilty. To say I was disappointed would be a gross understatement.
Not only was I out several thousands for the attorney, but I was soon to be hit with the real expense of such a conviction... 10% loss of wages for a year because I couldn't drive a company vehicle. Substance Abuse classes, and the insurance... Damn, a more than 300% increase for years and I previously had no points. There's literally an industry built around these charges that punish the accused before you ever get to court. For a single parent it ruined me. Not to mention the shame and stigma associated with it that never goes away.
I was heartbroken when the kid gave me that call to come get him. I was also painfully aware of the importance of good representation. Initially we were bombarded with the mailbox full of letters from dozens of attorneys promising to help. It can be overwhelming and frightening. I work in a professional environment and knew some people familiar with the local "legal landscape." I contacted an attorney I knew who helped with my divorce and custody situation, but he didn't swim in these legal waters. He initially referred me to a gentleman who, after explaining the details and context of the arrest to his paralegal... (apparently there are more detailed considerations with a checkpoint) and the fact that my kid had CDL's I never heard back from the man !!
There's a clock running all the while and decisions have to be made. Informed decisions. I contacted the attorney I had asked for the referral again and he gave me two names, but he said if you feel it's a "no holds barred" and"try and win at any measure" situation contact the first man, John Fanney. He explained that John not only had a local reputation for his expertise and specialization with DWI's, but a national one. Not just that he had a record of successful outcomes but that he taught other attorneys about the technical matters that don't make much sense to you or me but do in court. So we retained him.
John was honest and upfront about the possible outcome after our initial consultation. I was aware of the importance, and felt comfortable and confident with him representing someone more important to me than myself... My child.
Knowledge and expertise go hand in hand with an understanding of the process and people involved. John has all of these. He also has a commitment and dedication to providing the best possible outcome, while never minimizing the severity of my son's actions, only that he shouldn't have to pay for them for a lifetime, limiting professional and educational opportunities. And the financial impact and hole it can create for a young person who doesn't have much to begin with. This situation got more complex, the young man made his situation more difficult before this matter was resolved. John helped us through that as well. Sometimes a young person can't see the importance of things when they're so close to them. They come into focus with time and distance, age and maturity. But parents know all too well. I'll tell you, just as John told us from the very beginning, "There are no guaranteed outcomes." As an individual facing these matters, or the parent/loved one of someone going through this difficult, stressful ordeal with FAR-reaching consequences you want to look back and be able to say that you gave yourself/your loved one, the best opportunity for a positive outcome. Punishment comes in many forms, not just in convictions. The cost, the immeasurable stress, the impact on personal and professional relationships that these arrests place on everyone involved, prior to a legal resolution are punitive in themselves. If you're here reading this you're likely in trouble too. Do yourself a favor and give John a call.
