Reasonable price has a good reputation and relationship with judge

"Skip" got me a deal that included a 16-day stay at the Hancock Hilton, along with a mandatory assessment at Century Health and presumed "treatment". Early May. I did not know there was such a strict timeline for completing the assessment (30 days) and skip did not go over the importance of all of it with me. I wish he had looking back on how it played out. I was to report to jail June 15th to do the 16 days, and because of overcrowding, I was told to go back to court and reschedule. All along my plan was to serve the 16 days, then go to Century Health and participate in their 3 days-a-week intensive outpatient treatment group. My new day to report to jail was July 18th. This time they let me in, and on the 19th, my second day in jail, the sheriff paraded in with a warrant for my arrest for what they call non-compliance. To them, it didn't matter that I hadn't served my sentence yet, or that I voluntarily showed up to jail to comply with my sentence and serve my 16 days. All that mattered to money-hungry Hancock County is that I didn't complete the assessment within 30 days. The paperwork for the warrant showed I was to serve 285 days in jail, time that was suspended as a result of multiple traffic infractions. All I wanted to do was speak with Skip, the attorney I paid for to represent me regarding the matter. A simple phone conversation would have sufficed, I merely wanted someone experienced with the local court to give me advice on how to proceed. Instead, I got his assistant summer who told me I could pay Skip $850 to represent me for early release and that my money was good for up to two court appearances but that it didn't come with any guarantee of release. I decided to file the motion for release myself once I completed the original 16 days. It took about 10 minutes to complete the paperwork, and a few days later it came back denied. I waited 3 more weeks and filed again. This time, after serving an additional 20 days, I was released, but put on probation. Never went to court at all. In conclusion, I think skip did a good job with getting me a decent outcome for my multiple traffic convictions. However, it is apparent now that he has considerable experience with the local court and how they operate when it comes to the Century Health dog-and-pony show. He could have advised me that they were going to throw me in jail for not going to the assessment within 30 days. Especially knowing I had a sentence of 16 days to complete. In addition, he could have made a quick visit, or even gave me 5 minutes of time over the phone to offer me simple advise. Or at the very least, offered a more reasonable retainer fee for his representation in such a simple legal procedure. But in the end, it's all a well-oiled machine, the business of processing people through the system and litigating for their defense. If you don't have loads of cash laying around, I wouldn't advise consuming alcohol or smoking a joint outside of a locked room.

Skip and Summer were great. Very impressed with their level of service and even more impressed with the outcome. I was from out of town and never needed to show once to get case handled. He called when needed and quickly handled everything. I would truly recommend Skip to handle any legal services needed. They are Fair, honest, and I truly appreciate them. They provide wonderful service.

I was in a bad situation with the worst possible timing. They really helped me out, solving a few of my major headaches. I was stuck in a series of Catch-22's that didn't seem to end, and I didn't have a clue how to solve some of the issues I was facing. It seemed like every time I thought I found a solution, it wasn't an option. They helped me get the extra time I needed to set myself up to work through my problem. They also provided me with a solution at their expense when I couldn't find one. It really helped me out. The outcome was a lot better than it could have been, and the price was really reasonable. They worked with me on price and payment because of just how bad the timing was. It helped me feel a lot better about everything, and I don't know what I would have done without their help.

Skip was a great attorney for me. He is very professional and has a lot of connections within Wood County. He was able to help me in a OVI case where a State Trooper wanted to also get me for a felony fleeing and eluding charge. Because of skips knowledge and connections he was able to get the felony charge thrown out. I still got a "First Offense OVI" charge. But it could have been a lot worse. Thanks again Skip!
