Where do I start?? My husband hired attorney Wrice to represent him in a custody case against his ex wife. We are a black couple, dealing with a system that has never been favorable to us as a people, and we wanted a black lawyer who could truly empathize and then fight hard to make sure that we weren't continually wronged, as my husband had been time and time again with his ex wife in regards to the children. We had that in attorney Wrice, but there were other problems from the start. Attorney Wrice is not a good communicator. We would send emails with no response for weeks during periods of time where we were having hearings and needed to know basic information. Her response to us would frequently be, "use the portal," a system of electronic communication through her law firm. We would do so, still with no response from her. After generally giving her 7-10 days to respond, I would email her again to check on the status of things happening, and her response would be snippy. She called my husband once and told him that he needed to "get me under control" and that I needed to be patient and follow protocol. She wanted me to be "patient" when she went weeks with no response, in an extremely time sensitive manner. Response is a common courtesy, and she couldn't give that. The ONLY time she was quick with a response was when she was asking my husband to payment. She was going through some health issues the entire time, which is obviously not under her control. However, we would've appreciated her referring our case onto someone else, if she was not healthy enough to be present for us in these dire moments of our lives. Our case should've been a slam dunk. The ex wife moved outside a designated area and took the children. We should've been able to get the children and the ex wife should've had to answer as to why she moved without the court's permission. Attorney Wrice's recommendation was to file a motion of contempt against her. We did so, and paid her $2500. After some back and forth, finally, it was scheduled for 7 months after the initial filing. When that day finally came, we were supposed to be in person, but it was switched to zoom last minute. She said that this was because of opposing counsel, but attorney Wrice was actually in the hospital that day, speaking on zoom with only audio and her camera off. We never ended up having that contempt hearing, and the magistrate moved to settle the case. Now, it didn't end up being settled until 7 months later, under a different attorney, but that was our last major correspondence with attorney Wrice. My husband had spoken with her and she was supposed to be in the process of writing up a parenting draft for us to send to his ex wife. During that "contempt hearing", she asked my husband "what do you want?" as if she hadn't been in this process with us for almost a year. We were the clients, she was the lawyer, she was supposed to be our advocate and fight for what she knew we were wanting all along. But when it came down to it, she seemed to have no clue what we were fighting for. A couple months later, we decided to fire her, and switch to a more responsive attorney that was recommended to us by family friends. That attorney told us that we would've had a much better chance of getting custody of the children with their mothers' illegal move, had different legal moves been made in the first place by attorney Wrice. By the time we switched to the new attorney, the case was almost a year old, and there was little he could do to salvage my husband's right to his children. For attorney Wrice, we spent about $6000 give or take. We never received the $2500 back for the contempt hearing that never happened. Attorney Wrice was very understanding of the importance of black fathers, and fired up about our situation, but unfortunately, her lack of communication and action on our case caused us to lose in a major way. Hindsight is 20/20, but I can not in good faith recommend this attorney to anyone else.

If I could give negative stars I would. This lawyer accepted my case to represent my brother. After she was paid, she turned my case over (without my consent) to another shyster, I mean lawyer (Donald J Wiggins) who had just passed the bar without my consent. He had no idea what he was doing. They both gave me the run-a-round for 3 yrs pretending like they were working on the case when they were doing nothing. Eventually, I gave them a deadline and Wiggins abandoned the case while Kia Wrice blamed Wiggins for the case falling thru. She needs to stick to defending clients from traffic tickets because anything else is too complicated for her. In the end, she refunded the $15K I paid her but that does nothing for the time I wasted with these clowns. Avoid at all cost!!

The amount of excellence that Attorney Kia Wrice brought to the court room on my behalf was nothing shorter than superb. She kept me calm when I was an absolute wreck. With a cool poise, she controlled the whole court. This may come off like fluff, but she has this assertiveness and grace that gets the job done! If you’re looking for someone that’s straight to the point without leaving you with the uncertainty of what’s going on…lean on Kia! Wrice for the Win!!!

I met Kia about 4 yrs ago at which time life was truly happening. Covid, death, and sickness. Kia is human and life does happen to her as well. Being a lawyer doesn’t change that. 2020-2021 knocked down a lot of ppl. The story is she hired someone to help her that didn’t help her at all. (People try to knock you down too)So now she is trying to pick up the pieces and gain back the trust and respect of her clients that she once had. My husband and I did not turn our back on her. While we were upset and disappointed in the situation we stayed in contact And Today she has gained my respect and my trust. I won’t go in detail but I do believe she is remorseful for the past and is fighting to reach her goal. Not by knocking people down but making sure it is done respectfully, legally, and the best way she knows how,. So Kia I accept your apology for the past and pray the God blesses you with your hearts desire with his will be done. Continue to pray, because what God has for you is for you.

Kia was working in the law firm of Shapards law. First impression was fantastic but 5 months later in a divorce and custody case she left and and didn’t Inform me “was a client .” 5 months later and after a $3600 retaining fee and maybe a total of 8 emails and 30min on the phone I’m still no where. She admitted that she doesn’t like to be pushed to a time frame. Maybe in the super long run a great choice but if you need answers here and now like I did she’s not the one.

I’ve watched Ms Wrice grow and become an awesome lawyer. Over the last 8-9 years I’ve hired her and I’ve never lost with her. I remember when I first hired her she had the look of “I will fight and win.” Very classy in her approach to it , just step back and watch her work! She’s definitely branded herself.

My son had acquired some legal issues. I called Attorney Wrice and told her the situation she asked for the case number and she told me she would look into it and call me back. She called me back with an immediate court date and told me not to worry about the cost. The case was closed after only two court appearances.

The determination that I have watched Kia operate with is incredible! One brick wall after another, and she’s found herself in the winners circle over and over. I couldn’t say enough about how professional Kia is!

Shalom…….. all I can say is that Attorney Wrice was an absolute answer to this person’s prayer. When no other law firm would represent me without paying my retainer in full up front, she chose to work with me. She showed me via example how to NOT over complicate matters by worrying….. always kept a calm, yet very professional posture throughout the whole process by keeping God first, which is something you rarely hear about when it comes to legal representation.
