Excellent Firm. Hard working, professional and comprehensive, Braden Blumenstiel and his superb legal secretary, Laura Bragg, always kept us informed of the complexities involved in our case, simplifying the legalese for us. They checked all the boxes and were able to get the results we had asked for. We are very appreciative.

It has been a long process but we finally had a successful outcome with Braden Blumenstiel leading the team! Thank you for you efforts on my part for my vaccine claim with the government!! I also want to give a great review to Lora Bragg his paralegal who for the past two years has worked so diligently on my behalf and taking time out to explain everything and hold my hand through this long process! Lora was a godsend Thank you team for all your work on my behalf! I truly appreciate it! Ginny Kindberg

Pros
1
Excellent legal expertise and attentive service
“Troy has been outstanding as a lawyer, but also as a support system. I have called Troy at all hours panicking about some sort of shenanigans that our lender was pulling and he has answered all of my questions and reassured me that this is just another one of their dirty tactics.”
2
Thorough and detail-oriented work
“We've been so impressed with the attention to detail personal touch he gives our matters that we wouldn't think of going anywhere else.”
3
Successful outcomes and client satisfaction
“Troy stepped in and helped me solve all of these issues. Things were handled smoothly and quickly. I was very satisfied.”
4
Compassionate and responsive approach
“Troy and his partner Andy. They both did very well with my issue with the mortgage company. I would highly recommend that you hire him and his team to represent you in anything concerning your mortgage lenders.”
5
Ability to handle complex legal matters
“Troy was the only lawyer that I spoke with that was able to find the bank that held the mortgages. Troy also came up with a way to force the bank to go into foreclosure and on one property release the property to me.”
Cons
1
Concerns about billing and legal fees
“In the end, the total legal bill was about 70% of the settlement award. After negotiating with the firm, they discounted their fees so I would get 40%. I think it is disingenuous to say that I got 100% of the award just because the settlement amount was split into two payments.”
2
Lack of direct communication with the lead attorney
“Once I signed the fee agreement, I never once again met or spoke with Troy.”
3
Difficulty reaching the office and getting timely responses
“Attempting to reach Mr. Doucet you first have to get past the person that answers the phone. Not to say she wasn't nice... but there is certainly room for improvement. What was promised was not delivered.”
4
Concerns about the attorney's willingness to take on certain cases
“I sought out legal advice from Mr. Doucet, but because I am not his usual client he decided to discourage me from taking any further legal action. He was very condescending and would not give me straight forward answers.”

I was impressed with Mr. Gillespie's knowledge an professionalism and will recommend him to others. He is well connected and has years of experience to draw on from time with a larger firm that serves him well while enabling him to be entirely focused on me as a client and my needs in his current practice without high overhead or worrying about padding his hours to meet the demands of a firm who cares too much about their bottom line which creates tension when compared to clients' best interests.

I have used the services of G. Gregory Arenstein for over 8 years and have been very satisfied in the results of Greg's work. From the beginning to the end of each case, Greg's process and quality of work has been exceptional. For example, Greg's ability to relate complicated information into a way that I was able to understand and make a decision is very important to me. Many times, other attorneys will not give you the time or can't explain the information clearly. In addition, Greg has a wealth of knowledge and skills to help small business owners achieve their goals. I have referred several clients to Greg who all come back to thank me.

It is always frustrating when I speak to attorneys since most try to hide behind words and expressions, and try to generalize as if they were in a press conference or diplomatic interview. This is not the case with MR. Gilbert, gave very clear and concise answer based on facts, thus his output is facts

My husband and I met with Tim to put a Trust in place to make sure our home and savings didn't go through probate and specifying who would get what since we don't have kids yet. I have worked for Tim for many years so I understand the benefit of estate planning, but being on the other side of the table was different than I expected! He helped guide us through the process (and was very patient in explaining everything to my husband who doesn't have any experience with this type of stuff).

All of the Jarvis staff are all very friendly, efficient and quick to respond. We experienced very satisfying planning, discussion and comprehensive execution of our future legal plans for our family. The plans were very thorough and informative, especially in areas we were unfamiliar with. We cannot be more pleased with the scope and sequence of our final plans.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dublin, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
