Well, it was by chance that I got to work with this company. I had used a service before them and I was not impressed at all. I had received about 10 letters from companies saying they would help me with my tax issues. I thought I am not going to waste anymore money. I contacted the IRS and realized quickly I had no desire to deal with them directly. I called each company that had sent me letters and decided on Fortress. They were personable but more importantly they were honest and forthright. They heard me out and assigned me an attorney (David). I have been working with David and his assistant for about a year or so now. They are responsive, fair, and even when I did not have the money upfront to pay the fees they worked on my case until I could get paid up. I have enjoyed them so much that I now have them on retainer for the next 2 years!

While it makes me sad to amend my 5 star review from 2 years ago, Fortress has earned it. I recently found myself in the midst of a long-running family and business emergency, and was overwhelmed when I received the notice from the IRS for my biannual review. I reached out to Fortress, asking if they might be willing to do it since I'd sent them so much business, left all the reviews they asked for, etc. The response I got was "We are a for-profit business and it will be $2500." There was no acknowledgement of my hardship, nor appreciation shown for the thousands in business I'd sent. None. Thankfully, I was able to solve it with the IRS in about 70 minutes, and save $2500. The attorney I used is no longer there, and since this latest interaction, I've had to tell more than one person I can no longer recommend Fortress. So if you used them, expect the services you pay for - and do NOT go out of your way to send them referrals or do all the reviews. It only helps them, and takes precious time away from your life - a life that holds no value to them except for what you can pay. There isn't enough time or space to express my gratitude to the fine folks at Fortress. I've been self-employed for years, and feel I can pretty much negotiate anything. That does not apply to the IRS, as they are impenetrable. You need the pros to do it, and will not be disappointed when working with Fortress. I can't imagine where I'd be without them, and they are worth every dime.
