I brought on John “Cam” Howry as co-counsel and consultant to work a difficult custody case here in Jackson County alongside my attorney in Portland. As I’m sure I’ll be working with Cam until my son is 18, this review is based on my relationship with him up to this point. After establishing jurisdiction co-counsel in Portland acknowledged that I was in good hands with Cam and removed himself from the case, allowing Cam to take over the case in its entirety. Luckily Cam agreed to take on the additional workload and accept me as a client. In working with Cam, I can tell that he’s knowledgeable of the ins and outs of the law. He is very professional while still being compassionate and very down-to-earth. Easy to talk to. He was very patient and understanding at times when I was super anxious over things coming up and shady tactics of the opposition. In the courtroom he was well-prepared and well articulated. He was tactful in the courtroom without being a bully. I can still picture the ugly snarl of opposing counsel as she questioned me and tried to trick me up with the wording of her questions, but Cam conducted himself with honor and didn’t stoop to such low tactics in his examination of the respondent. I respect him for that and it shows his upstanding character. That said, despite not being a shark, Cam was very tactful in conveying his points and making a great argument. He was also not intimidated by the opposition’s big-wig attorneys from Portland. He stood his ground, didn’t cave, and didn’t get bent out of shape by their status or unethical tactics throughout the hearings. Sometimes a bit difficult to get ahold of, but what lawyer isn’t??? He’s a busy guy and very dedicated to his clients and I was just thrilled that he agreed to squeeze me in despite his already hefty workload. He did respond in a timely manner and when I had his attention, I could tell that I had his full attention. Cam is a great guy and made me feel like I was more than just another paycheck to him. He has a great balance of professionalism and friendliness and helped ease my anxieties at times when I was losing it. Custody matters are some of the most important hearings to clients and I definitely feel like he respected the gravity of the situation and how important it was to me.

Mr. Rowan represented my daughter. She is difficult, yet he was patient and got to the root of the matter and ensured she received the assistance that she needs. She had to pay her dues to society, but she will come out of this a better person. He is diligent, well connected and respected. Thus, effective. Thank you Mr. Rowan.

Cam was recommended by multiple local attorneys as “the best in Jackson County”… and in my experience… absolutely is. Fair, communicative, deep understanding of the law and how the local judiciary is likely to apply it in particular cases. Fees and billing are very fair. Fabulous, ethical attorney!!
