The first lawyer I went to made a mess of my chapter 7 paperwork and filed everything incorrectly. He spent a total of 20 minutes with me as a consultation and then met me at the court for my hearing. After the hearing the court wrote a letter to my lawyer saying that I needed to provide more documentation but he didn't know what to do. That's when I found Karen. She helped immensely! She dealt with the court for months trying to get them to understand my particular situation and the end I did end up filing chapter 13. She was patient with me and helped me understand the severity of the situation and the amount of money it would cost to fight further. Two years later when I lost my job due to illness she helped me filed for Chapter 7. I'm so thankful to Karen and all the care and consideration she took with me. It was a very difficult and stressful time in my life and I appreciate what she did very much.

Due to Karen's expertise and knowledge regarding bankruptcy, my Chapter 13 was handled promptly and smoothly. Payments to the trustee are manageable, I'm able to pay the remaining bills, buy groceries, fuel, etc., and still have a little left over for emergencies, incidentals, etc. She and her staff answered all of my questions without hesitation and guided me through the whole process. If bankruptcy may be a possibility for you, I would highly recommend that you meet with Karen, explain your situation so she can advise accordingly, such as whether bankruptcy will really help in your situation, which type of bankruptcy is best, and then a thorough explanation of the complete process and what to expect during the process. Ms. Oakes was extremely helpful during my stressful legal process, explaining each step along the way. Articulate yet sympathetic, she maintained a high level of professionalism throughout the time we worked together. Ms. Oakes' demeanor was courteous and competent, and I felt she advised me well and in my best interest. I found her to be honest and forthright. I have recommended her to several people and would definitely seek her services in future legal matters.

Ms. Oakes made me feel like my hopeless situation was going to be solved, After my divorce I was left holding all of the debts and raising the kids. She made me feel like a real person and that she cared. She never made me feel less-than or a failure. She was right there every step I had to take. whenever I needed her she was always there for me. Even today she is helping me to clean-up my credit rating. Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty. My understanding is that she spends her own money to attend educational conferences to stay up-to-date and give us "The People" the help she says we deserve. A chance to start over. Karen was there to help us when we needed it. She took the time to sit down and to speak with us, go over the paperwork and to fight for us. The creditor phone calls stopped. It's been 4 years, and thanks to Karen, we are back on track. It was worth every penny for her service. She knows what she is doing, and is the best in town. Very poor attorney. She was happy to take my money (over $4000) and the would NEVER return my calls. I lost my job and wanted to talk to her about getting my payments to the bank trustee lowered. I called her the week I lost my job. For the next 6 months I called over 30, (that's right, 30 TIMES!!) and she would never speak to me or return my calls. She did have her receptionist call me back a couple of time. Needless to say, my bankrupcy went into default and they ended up repossessing my truck. Tough to look for work when you lose your transportation. I paid $360 a month to the trustee to make payments, all he did was pay himself and Karen Oakes. Thanks again for the return phone calls Karen, you are the worst!!!!
