Marc Johnston of the Johnston Law Firm has been an asset to my business, my family and myself. I first contacted Marc in 2011 because my health insurance company was refusing to pay thousands of dollars in medical bills I had incurred. At the end of hope and looking at having a debt that would cause incredible strain on my finical situation, I desperately searched for an attorney that I could trust and that would fight for me. Marc worked with me, fought hard, and within two months my insurance company paid my medical bills in full. Two years later my company was having an issue with an insurance company regarding some of our equipment. I contacted Marc Johnston again just to ask if I had any recourse. Within a month the insurance company paid and saved my business over 20k in equipment repair cost, another win for the Johnston Law Firm. While attending college at U of O my daughter was in a major accident when she was rear-ended by another car and was pushed into other vehicles. Before my daughter could even see a Dr. the auto insurance company started calling her trying to get her to say she wasn’t injured and was fine. Her car was totaled from both the front, back, and side to side, she was not fine. I called Marc and asked for his guidance once again. Although his office is based out of Portland, he instantly took control of the situation, stopped the harassing calls to my daughter Maggie and worked with her for a year though her physical recovery; Marc made sure Maggie received full compensation. This was an indescribable relief for a Father that lives thousands of miles away in Alaska. In 2015 my company was having issues with a new piece of equipment we had purchased for over $150k and the manufacture was ignoring the severity of the situation. After months of trying to work with said manufacturer, I once again called the Johnston Law Firm and asked Marc what I should do. This situation was beyond difficult, but Marc never gave up, in fact, he never even suggested I give up. After a year Marc was able to get the manufacture to take the equipment back and return our company’s payment. This was no simple case, and I had been told by many that there was no way we could come out on top. However, Marc doesn’t give up, he pushes and pushes until his clients receive exactly what they are owed. I have been an entrepreneur since I was 19, and I have had my share of obstacles, and the ones mentioned above were big enough to destroy my life’s work. In 2016 I was involved in two car accidents due to the careless actions of another driver.The first accident I was hit by a driver who ran a red light The impact broke my collarbone And totaled my truck Resulting in surgery to repair my collarbone. In 2014 I had both hands broken in a car accident. I wasn't sure what to do when I started to get letters from the drivers insurance company , forcing me to worry about my future and what I was going to do ! The Johnston Law Firm represented my sister and me on a case against an insurance company who wanted to deny our rightful benefits to our Father’s life insurance policy that he had paid into for 30 years. They wanted to pay us 80% less than its full value. The Johnston Law Firm treated me friendly and professionally. In our discussions regarding our case Marc was always honest and forthcoming with his expectations and our options. Mark’s passion regarding the insurance’s wrong doing of my father’s and to my sister and I was portrayed in his negotiation letters to the insurance company. Marc negotiated strongly on our behalf. When we thought we had lost Marc discussed one last prospect. We hired someone to do research in depth that was all encompassing of Oregon’s laws and procedures on paperwork, elder laws, and other legal formalities. Marc’s solutions were creative and strong. I was always kept apprised as the case progressed and kept informed either by Karen or Marc. Marc and I discussed costs and we negotiated a fair price. Marc was always willing to discuss our arrangement and worked with us on the costs trying to keep them down. He reached out to correct his website to reflect his services. He apologized and went way above to make it right which he didn’t have to do. I would highly recommend you reach out to him if you need his service. Old review: This is not a review of Marc Johnston or his services as a lawyer. I was looking up a lawyer for an insurance claim and his firm was the first suggestion. After going to his website there were many areas that claimed that they handle the type of claim I needed a lawyer for. I called the number and the first woman I spoke with told me that they don’t so I pointed out that the website says that they do she responded with a snobbish attitude that I can call the Oregon Bar and quickly hung up with me. Feeling dismissed, I decided to check the website a little more thoroughly and it does in fact say that they do. I called back and spoke with a different woman who connected me with their paralegal, she also said that they don’t handle those type of claims and recommended a lawyer for me. You shouldn’t advertise that you handle claims that you in fact don’t. You should also train your ladies answering the phones about professionalism and how to use better manners when speaking with someone.

I hired Marc and his team after a terrible bicycling collision with the city bus. That night I had followed all the correct rules of the road yet ended up with a broken back and collar bone. It was important to have someone represent me that would fight for a fair amount of money. I choose to work with Marc because he was personal to me as a client. From the beginning he asked for updates on my pain and took the extra efforts to investigate my long term damage which helped get a better settlement. In 2015 I was rear-ended in a three-car collision and Marc Johnston helped me out substantially. Marc had been my dad's attorney for a few years at this point and was gracious enough to help me out. During this time I was going to college and didn't understand my rights or how to properly go about dealing with a major car accident. Marc helped me every step of the way. He did everything he could to see that I got more than my fair share of compensation for the accident. My car had been totaled and I was injured. He helped me get physical therapy and massages for two years. Marc wanted to make sure that physically I felt better before making negotiations for my settlement. In 2015 I was on my motorcycle and cut off by a driver who didn't see me. There was significant damage to my cycle, and I was banged up pretty well. I didn't need any hospitalization, but I did have to go to Physical Therapy. I had never had to seek representation before and was a little reluctant to do it, but Marc made it easy for me. In 2018 I was rear ended by a drunk driver. She was going 60 mph, flipped my stopped car and put the rear seats of my station wagon into the front seat. The damage was immense, and I was profoundly injured. I had multiple disc herniations in my neck and back from the impact, as well as damage to my left shoulder. I lost my career permanently, and am lucky to be alive. I was also lucky that I chose Johnston Law Firm to represent me.
