I can’t say enough good things about this team. I came to them with an urgent issue and they responded instantly. I met Laurel around 9am, and within an hour she assembled a team of experts to help me address a really difficult family matter. I felt like they listened to me and worked very hard on behalf of my family. They are very smart, hard working lawyers and you would be lucky to have them on your side.

I was a client of Brad's this past year and couldn’t recommend him more. He is kind, thoughtful, and insightful. It was such a relief to have him by my side. The knowledge that if the mediation became too confrontational or threatening I could turn everything over to Brad, allowed me to not feel trapped or cornered. His assistant, Glenn Johnson, is exceptionally bright and kind. Everyone in the office is friendly, professional and frankly fun to be around. I used this firm (specifically Laurel Hook) to help me with a parenting time issue. They ended up "inappropriately billing" me to the tune of thousands of dollars. I've seen other clients of the firms billing statements and the same thing happened to them. In 2011 a judge ruled that they "inappropriately billed" me and they were ordered to pay me back. I filed a complaint with the Oregon State Bar. Almost four years later, the Bar found that Laurel Hook, a named partner in the firm had indeed "inappropriately billed" me. She was punished by the Bar, but the Bar basically let her off the hook (no pun intended) by NOT putting this on her record. How did Ms. Hook "inappropriately bill" me? She had a clerk write a two sentence letter to me and send it. She billed it to her (Hook) at her rate of (around) $300 per hour. This turned out to be a (about) $90 charge. Ms. Hook did this 18 times, and attorney Brad Miller did it 18 times, according to the Multnomah County Court. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Brad was a tremendous lawyer. I was well represented. He was respectful of not just me but also in speaking of what is now my ex wife. Brad listened well, was patient with me, and fought for what he knew was most important to me: a fair summer, holiday, and school year parenting plan. He was also good at helping me stand my ground when I was inclined to give in too much. In short, I always believed that Brad would help me get to a reasonable and fair outcome. And we did! In my experience it is exceedingly rare to encounter a group of individuals under the éclat of Laurel Hook of SKH. Laurel was so focused, so incisive, and so bold as to simply overwhelm the opposition in our legal proceedings. Beginning with the original phone call to the office seeking help, we were guided by the receptionist Rosie who listened intently and patiently, recognized immediately the complexity of our legal issue, and directly referred us to one of the senior partners -- rather than either dismissing us (as other firms had), or recommended a junior associate. After our initial discussion with Laurel Hook, my wife and I had the unequivocal feeling of acceptance and confidence, and most importantly a sense of hope. We had been through the travail of multiple attorneys in two states, and at that point were thoroughly discouraged. Thus began our journey with SKH. Our issues revolved around a previously punitive divorce settlement and damages related to a prenuptial agreement prior to remarriage. Immediately we were so impressed with the level of communication and availability, not to mention points of legal issue other attorneys failed to recognize. Laurel’s research was most impressive, seconded only by her courtroom stature and litigation skills that won the day for us. Simply said, we can not recommend anyone any higher, and remain most grateful to this most impressive law firm.

My husband and I recently found our selves in an impossible post-divorce situation. From the first contact we met with Stahancyk, Kent & Hook the care we got was not only first class, but comforting. Laurel Hook handled our case. She collected and looked at all relevant information and went for the most expeditious and just resolution possible. I highly recommend this lawyer. He was quick and efficient, and got things done in a timely manor. I always felt like I was in the loop and being kept up to date. If there was any information I had questions about that Brad didn't know the answer to he always found out the information quickly. It was a great experience working with him.
