I interviewed many attorneys carefully. I heard this one was good. I saw him speak and he is a very good salesman, so I decided to dig out about $1000 for a consult. He asked for way more money than all the other attorneys, most were even free to consult (and gave more and better info on the consult). So while I have money, I still don't enjoy wasting it. I paid almost $1000 for a consultation that was so bad if they paid me $1000 to go, I would have refused. I acknowledge the lawyer knows a lot, I saw him speak at a seminar. But I also noticed he seemed chummy with the district lawyers, (the adversaries for many of us parents who see lawyers like this), but thought that could still be ok. I was optimistic. Now after reading other reviews, at least I was only cheated if $1000. I was initially impressed by the fact that they wanted ALL my records to review before the consultation. Nobody else did that. It was a lot of work to get this records, which I gladly.vollected, thinking they actually.bother to read them. If they read even one page of what I worked so hard to carefully, collect, print and collate. So I wasted money AND time on that worthless consultation. A total waste of.time.amd trees. I left feeling embarrassed I was.duped out of so much money on this ridiculous consultation which was by far the worst. I didn't learn anything except dont go back there. The head lawyer left the meeting and came back to tell me he called my district...without my permission. He was clearly friends with them, not me, and told them my private info. Is that even legal? I clearly felt liked he worked for them instead of me and was helping out a chum on the other side! Did je collect.money from them too?? I wouldn't be surprised. I feel this was unethical too as I did not even agree yet to use him, it was only an expensive consultation. There was no trust after that. I have no clue how they get off charging so much and if anyone actually believes they really read all the files. I did not have the impression ours were even touched. They tried to bill me more after the consult too, which they told me in advance was a set price. I was blown away at the insult after injury. So many lawyers want a lot of money just to wheel and deal instead of work. Since the districts have more money than the average parent, even wealthy ones, the freindships lawyers make can go either way. I have my suspicions about all this and decided steering clear was best. I recommend speak to several different attorneys before shelling out or agreeing to spend large sums of money. I found a good lawyer referred to me by a parents advocacy organization with no consult charges. Much better service and results too. If you reached this far, you seem like a researcher. Look into homeschooling. I added up all the time and money I spent on schools and special needs attorneys, I found using my health insurance and educating at home in a classical true to life way was much cheaper and 10000% better for his mental,physical and academic health and welfare.
