A little over 2 years ago something finally clicked and I began to change my life and my actions in so many positive ways. unfortunately though after a year of all the right moves just before the holiday I had slipped had a setback an made a wrong one.. I was facing 6 months for a direct violation despite having corrected myself and doing everything I had too before my day in court.. good legal representation kept me out of jail while my new charge made its way through court and gave me the opportunity to use that time to take all the actions needed to be able to show the judge that this was truly just a slip by the time my violation hearing finally came around.. When I walked into court that day I was extremely nervous knowing my guidelines called for 6 months but after talking to Evan Kelly I was able to relax. Evan is very compassionate and treats you like a regular person who just made a mistake. just talking to him puts you at ease because his character and actions. make it obvious you've got a good well liked lawyer who is going to get you the best possible outcome . the end result 6 months turned into 3 days that the judge let me fit around my schedule with the added incentive that if I continue on this good path in 6 months my lawyer can petition him and he will completely close out all my probation. Today was a very exciting day for myself and my husband. Today we wrapped up more than 2 years and more than $10,000 fighting to correct a mistake by Amanda Valezquez. We hired her back in 2017 when my husband was detained by ICE at a preliminary hearing. She never went to visit him in the 11 days he was incarcerated. She never spoke to him on the phone. She showed up to court very unprepared. In the court room that day she advised him to sign a voluntary departure. Stating he would simply have to return to Costa Rica and finish the filing of his papers from there. He'd be back in no time. Not knowing any better, we listened to the advice of our lawyer and my husband signed the voluntary departure not knowing he was making a huge mistake under her care. He was married to a US citizen. He had previously filed his i485 and i130 to adjust status before he was ever in ICE custody. He was well into the process when we were thrown into this curve that threw everything off track due to taking bad advice. The best thing she did as our lawyer was call me later that evening to admit her mistake and advise us to file a motion to appeal the decision. I was then able to hire a competent lawyer to file a motion to dismiss the voluntary departure. Had my husband left voluntarily he would have been barred 10 years and would have spent years outside of this country fighting to get back in, which likely would not have happened due to the DUI. Our lawyer, Troy Mattes of Lancaster, was extremely professional and took our case very seriously. He did everything necessary to get it all overturned and today my husbands case was granted for Permanent Residency. We couldn't be more thankful for his knowledge and guidance during these years of triumph in our live. This could have all been over with years ago had we hired the right lawyer from the beginning. I just advise anyone looking for help to take this into consideration. I would hate for anyone else to have to suffer through the ups and downs that we have. In the end, God is good and we are thankful for that.

I had never worked with Kelly and Conte before. I had been in a fender bender and was made aware that my license was suspended. I t was from a one year DUI suspension back in 2010.
