I went to Bart Highers over a year ago with my divorce. It was a fantastic experience. I had heard horror stories about the cost of a divorce. However Mr. Highers was very upfront and conscience about the finances. He reduced the fruitless back and forth that accompanies these events in order to keep me inside of a good budget. He was very realistic about what I was entitled to and what my best available options were. He was honest and very helpful and had both parties (my ex and her people) been willing to be realistic with expectations, we would have had this settled in half the time. So if you find yourself in this kind or any legal situation, I would recommend this team 100%! Thank you for everything you all have done for me.

I almost don’t know where to begin as I write this review… But let me try to begin here… I have been a client of Wm Bart Highers for several years now. I met Mr. Highers back in 2007, as I was going through a very difficult time, and an extremely difficult divorce. Mr. Highers represented me not only through the divorce, and through the painful issues surrounding the divorce, but he also represented me, as we maneuvered through the tenuous process of keeping an “Order of Protection” in place, and with the many challenges that were presented throughout the process. Mr. Highers is one of the most knowledgeable, skilled, focused, and dedicated attorneys I have every had the pleasure of knowing. And as scary, and nerve-wracking as the legal process has been for me, having Mr. Highers in the court room with me, has always given me a since of peace. Mr. Highers is the ultimate professional, and I would recommend him to anyone looking for an “honest, outstanding attorney”. Back in November, My husband and I received subpoenas because Ken Phillips was suing us for $12k. We had not used him in 3 and a half years. Over the last few years, there has been no contact regarding even having an outstanding balance, no bill, no phone call, nothing. I immediately filed a bar complaint through the state of TN. Fast forward to court, we reviewed the itemized statement we had been given and realized most of it had be falsified. We were billed for 60 minute phone calls that never happened, dozens of emails that never took place, and we were charged $6k worth of interest. We argued to Judge Hunter how someone could not contact us for three years to even inform us we had a bill meanwhile charge us for interest....he told us “everything looked good to him.” We lost our case and a $12k judgement was filed. Here we are two weeks later, we receive a letter stating that after a review of our case, many errors had been found and our balance had gone from $12k to $3k. Clearly, the Bar Association investigated Ken Phillips and was able to prove where he had falsified billing statements and unethically charged us three years worth of interest. Please do not use Ken Phillips as an attorney. If this post saves ONE person from being screwed over by him, I’m happy. Thanks for reading.

Positive comments: great at faxing documents. Licensed to practice law in Tennessee. Negative reviews: Inexperienced in the complexities of family law. Meetings were never prepared/organized. redundancy. I met with cousel 3 times in person For 7.5 hours to go over the SAME relevant financial and personal documents that were provided to the office prior to the first meeting...the information therin never changed. If you’re looking to cough up 1500 at the end of your divorce so someone can text on his phone during mediation then Ken is your guy.
