My ex and I decided to go down the mediation route instead of engaging in the typical "Divorce Attorney" process, as it can be hard on the kids. In addition, no offense to Divorce Attorneys (sorry Richard), but I have been told the only people that win in the typical process are the attorneys. What we thought and what was reality was a little different in the eyes of the law, and Richard guided us using his many years of experience. I truly believe we both wound up in a much better position at the end without having to liquidate assets to pay separate council. In addition, COVID-19 threw a curve ball after we originally filed that required additional paperwork, which he knew, and the judge ultimately commended us for having prior to going before him. Knowing that paperwork was needed, ensured the final order was signed that day (instead of having to postpone further). I would recommend Richard to others in our situation without hesitation.

Richard is awesome to deal with. I went to Richard after speaking to a Divorce firm downtown. I didn’t get a good vibe from that firm that was downtown and so glad I went to Richard when I needed to find a Divorce Attorney. He listened and he did exactly what I wanted. He never tried pressuring me at all through the whole process. He also didn’t nickel and dime me to death like some Divorce Attorneys do. I paid a flat price and was able to call and email when I had questions without fear of being charged each time. I highly recommend Richard Hedgepath! I hope to never need him again for that but if I need an attorney in the future to handle any other thing that might come up, I will definitely call Richard again.

The good people of the John Day Law Office are a joy to work and talk with. They responded very quickly to questions which is always a problem at most law offices, we took on Big Insurance and fought them hard. I am glad that they were on my side! I would definetly recommend this law firm !!

I highly recommend The Law Offices of John Day. They were able to negotiate with the insurance company and help us after an accident. I tried handling it on my own at first and was getting nowhere. Our dog was injured in the accident, and the insurance company only wanted to offer his replacement value instead of paying his vet bills. Caroline and Amy were able to navigate the months of negotiations between us and the insurance company until the issue was finally resolved. We would have been out thousands of dollars without their help. I truly appreciate all their help!

Richard is a nice-enough guy, easy to talk to, and personable. However, he's not the lawyer for everyone. If you are in the midst of an "aggressive" legal battle, he's not the guy to "go to the mattresses" with. He lacks that spitfire personality that you sometimes need in an attorney. That doesn't make him a bad lawyer, but I think he's mostly suited for mediation cases or situations where you feel more comfortable with the lawyer doing some basic legal legwork. If you fall into the second category, I would recommend him. I can understand the positive reviews posted here for him, but a different perspective is always helpful. Picking an attorney who has the qualities you need for your particular situation can make the difference between a fair outcome or throwing money out the window.
