Very untrustworthy. His paralegal seems to make a living making excuses and lying on his behalf. He was always multitasking when on the phone, eating, typing to other people; completely distracted and paying no attention at my expense. He told me details about other client's cases, wouldn't alert me of updates, made me miss important deadlines sabotaging my case. He never had the facts correct on my case when I would finally get to speak with him about updates. I didn't feel I was being advocated for in any shape or form. My next attorney was great and makes it hard to imagine that it gets much worse than Marshall. I was so gutted and it was a complete miracle that my next attorney was even able to salvage my case after all the damage done by him and his firm.

Mr. Thompson promises the world and consistently fails to deliver. I do not think that he reviews the information that is provided to him before filing court papers. Multiple times, his blatant errors (factual, clerical, other) have made us look like idiots in front of judges. I was watching him wrap up another case while I was waiting to speak with him about my case, and I saw him try to convince the judge that the opposing client was a threat to their child because "something just doesn't feel right". I did not hear the facts of that case, but the judge seemed less than convinced. Every time I paid Mr. Thompson, I felt like I was helping him with a boat payment, and getting terrible legal representation in return.

I was kind of surprised and touched by how she described Marshall, but I totally agree with her after I talked to Marshall several times regarding my divorce. He is so knowledgeable, professional, kind and considerate to his clients. He helped me several times but never charged me any penny. He totally changed my impression to lawyers and presented me a very positive and righteous image of a lawyer. I just consulted with him recently regarding raising my child support and had planned to hire him as my lawyer to do this for me. However, he clearly told me hiring him is much more expensive than asking the attorney general office which is free in dealing with my case. He even pointed out a mistake that my previous lawyer drafted in my divorce decree and told me how to correct it through the attorney general office. I can tell he works as a lawyer not just for money, but for helping people in a powerful way. I believe many people especially those who are in need but have financial problems have been so blessed through Marshall.

16 months after my divorce, I was faced with addressing a divorce modification. Having been unhappy with my original lawyer, I decided to seek new counsel for my current issue. I needed to move a divorce proceeding my husband filed in Travis County in Texas to Davidson County in Tennessee. I contacted Thompson by telephone and laid out my case. His filing had the effect I sought. My husband dropped his effort to file in Texas where neither of us lived. It would have been a financial and physical hardship for me to respond to proceedings in Texas rather than Tennessee.

After a long separation - it was time to go through the divorce proceedings with my uncontested divorce. I had a relatively simple case as my ex and I had agreed to most of the terms ahead of time and already had an idea of how we wanted to proceed. Marshall was able to work with me and explain all the pros and cons of my decisions and also brought up a lot that I had no thought about before. It was more tricky when it comes to child shared custody than I thought - especially around things like taxes to which Marshall was very knowledgeable about. Throughout the process he was always professional and prompt and we were able to complete the divorce quickly and without issue.

Mr. Thompson was not only extremely knowledgeable with family law and offered the best options for my son's safety, he also was very compassionate towards me during a very hard time. I was seeking help to modify visitations between my son and his father for safety issues. He was able to get supervised visits with conditions which was a blessing. I have used two other attorneys in the past regarding my two older children and my experience was not good. They took months to return phone calls and we were in and out of court for well over a year. Mr Thompson always kept me in the loop and was able to get our case settled out of court. I live in Houston, Tx and if I need future legal representation I will continue to go to him for help.
