It is difficult to express gratitude to someone who walks with you through one of the most if not the most difficult times in a person's life. Divorce is not easy, even if both parties agree to terms. Mine was the picture of a disaster, not because of petty issues, but due to some pretty contentious opposing counsel and divorce terms. Divorce is not always about who gets the biggest win, but at least in my case, maximizing my time with my kids and my financial stability during the divorce and afterwards. John was an advocate for me and my kids all the way through. John was extremely fair, brutally honest with me when I really needed sound advice, and very compassionate to my situation. My divorce lasted almost a year and a half, that is a pretty long time. John conducted himself as a professional when dealing with a very challenging and demoralizing opposing counsel. Just not something anyone wants to deal with given the circumstances. You can hire any lawyer to represent you. I strongly believe John put my interests first, took them to heart, and truly did an outstanding job. Every lawyer gets paid, but I really felt John worked with integrity and honesty. I did not feel nickel and dimed, at all. John treated my case as a priority and as important to him as the rest of his cases. I truly am grateful and appreciative of his work and efforts. I would recommend John to anyone and have on a few occasions.

I retained John for counsel and guidance in 2016 when I saw my marriage heading downhill. I knew I needed to be prepared to protect my financial interests in the event my marriage become unsalvageable; and, in the event my husband followed through with threats made to my financial viability. John directed me how to prepare myself should I end up in divorce proceedings, and I continued to council with John from time to time through the next few years up to the point my ex filed for divorce in 2019. My divorce was intricate between various partnerships, family businesses and other commingled investments. John guided me and represented my best financial interests, family interests (regarding my children) and my post divorce interests/loose end concerns. John is very personable. While I was grasping and mourning the death of a 22 year marriage/26 year relationship, John stood steadfast in addressing my best interests with the understanding that I wanted a fair resolution while fearing being ‘steam rolled’ by my ex. I will admit there were days I was angry and stomped my feet. There were days I was a crying basket case. Through it all John was calm and provided the direction I needed to stay on course through the divorce process. I would not have been able to manage the complexities of my divorce had it not been for John’s guidance, proficiency, experience and compassion. He metaphorically held my hand through the entire life-changing experience. Thank you, John.

I want to take a moment to comment on John Kappel and ONDA. John represented me in a bitter divorce case that went on for nearly two years (due to her actions). John's guidance along this very difficult path was invaluable. The most impressive aspect of John's skill was his preparation and professional conduct at a two day trial that ended as well as I could have expected.

John Kappel represented me in a very unique settlement. My divorce was finalized 31 years ago. I was represented, at the time, by an attorney who has since retired. As my former spouse started to retire, it was discovered that the QDRO was missing specific wording and needed to be amended. At the last minute, my former spouse tried to change the total agreement - drastically affecting my settlement. Once John took over my case, He became my advocate. He broke everything down and presented options to me in a clear concise manner, keeping me informed every step of the way. After he spoke to opposing counsel, they stopped trying to change the already approved settlement. John took what had been a very stressful and emotionally draining situation and handled everything in his calm and professional manner. I agree with the previous review - John is a master strategist – he confronted opposing counsel with the facts…and they backed down. I would recommend John to anyone who wants to have their case handled without drama, but with skill and professionalism.

John did a great job handling my divorce. My spouse was extremely difficult to work with but Once we got to mediation John was able to have my divorce decree drafted and signed by all parties in the same day not only that but two days later we were in front of the judge getting my divorce finalized. I never thought I’d be divorced in 2017 let alone before Christmas. John exceeded all my expectations and I would 100% recommend him to anyone.

Very friendly and empathetic, from the front receptionist to the attorney I chose! Patrick took the time at consultation, to get to know the circumstances and was very caring! Unfortunately as with most big law firms, their accounting dept. was somewhat confusing&off! Which I ended up with more fees than I expected, being billed to me. However, for the kind of care and genuine interest from Patrick Babb, at least we got some resolution! Which is a lot more than I can say for the previous atty at a different firm, Herrin law, who has yet to refund the money and additional expenses caused, for the damage and the mess, by attorney/owner, Daniel Herrin! (which he admitted to, in an email as well!) Mr. Babb by checking on me afterwards, when we went through the flooding in Houston, further proved his true and genuine care for his client&was appreciated a lot! That seems RARE nowadays and I for one appreciate his sense of humanity and kindness, specially in his field of work!:)🙄😎

I was referred to John by one of his fellow office mates. I sincerely have no regrets. As a professional myself, I have high expectations of other professionals. John has delivered. John is very professional, and beats down attorneys who try to play dirty with the law. I would hire him again in a heart beat. John Kappel is an amazing lawyer! When you have to go to court for anything concerning your children and their well being it is imperative that you are in the hands of an attorney that is really compassionate, attentive, and truly cares about you and your family. John made me feel comfortable and confident from day one. He takes the time to explain what everything means and the what the best process would be. He also is very quick to respond. I never had to wait more than a day to hear back from him. The payment arrangements are more than reasonable, and when I have been in a pinch they have been extremely understanding and willing to work with me. They truly care about your families well being!
