At first, I had high expectations that Mr. Kay would and could jog me through the divorce process as a ‘turn and burn’. 1: He absolutely forgot to file for my Temp Orders hearing, so months passed for nothing. 2: When I did actually get to talk to him, vs emailing his secretary, he was consistently arrogant and interrupted me- he even yelled at me a time or two. 3: During TO hearing, he even irritated the judge! 4: Ultimately, I had to pay FOUR retainer fees total, which was over $14k (I am still paying back loans for). No ‘turn and burn’ case for me- over 2 years to finish. I was too invested to switch counsel though. The only one who got me what I wanted & deserved, was God with life’s plans. = Full custody of my kid(s). However, Mr Kay and my ex got a LOT of my money, and neither one deserved that.

Mr. K was opposing counsel for my modification case. He never filed the paperwork for our hearing and a year later we had to go back and try again, Only to have the hearing postponed once again because Mr. Kay didn’t know we were to be in court in person. Much of my time and money was wasted due to mistakes on his part. I’m glad I wasn’t paying him. I would be even more furious.

Mr. Kay was hired after we were having some difficulty with a tenant. The case was complicated and was performed in a county where evictions was not an easy task. We were able to complete the eviction although it was a painful process due to the county. The attorney was knowledgeable and helped us understand the law and apply it to our situation. well worth the money

Please, for your sake, do not hire this lawyer. He was initially charming and made us big promises. He delivered on none of them. He wouldn’t review evidence. He wouldn’t respond to us even when the opposing counsel was making demands of us or scaring us with threats to go back to court. He didn’t keep us updated on our retainer like he is supposed to. He would just hit us with huge bills without explanation. He was rude to us and clearly stopped caring once he was paid. He will not speak to you. He will not fight for you. He just acts like you don’t exist once he has been paid. It was a horrible experience. He won’t answer calls or emails. Yet somehow you will be charged for all his “work.” You will have no idea what’s going on. He wouldn’t fight for anything and kept just giving the other side what they wanted. I think hiring him destroyed our case. I have never see a lawyer who cares so little about his clients. He will not listen to you or communicate with you. He isn’t interested in fighting for you. Another thing, I would have to ask other lawyers to answer my questions. My lawyer was so disinterested and non-resposive I would have to pay or seek out other lawyers through friends who would answer my questions. Alfred caused me considerable stress during an already stressful time.

Mr. Kay was perfect for our case. He was patient, kind, knowledgeable and funny. The team they have in Georgetown was more of a support system than a law firm. I was able to ask questions at any time during the work day and receive an answer faster than expected. Paperwork was processed quickly, the decree was almost spot on with the first draft based on my requests, and the day of court was so smooth it seems unreal. I highly recommend Mr. Kay to anyone who finds themselves in need of a divorce attorney.

Horrible experience working with this law office. Incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience. They did not provide the service they agreed to and want to bill me for additional services they decided to perform instead. Very poor communication; you will have no idea what is going on with your case. Specifically do not work with Alfred Kay. He does not reply to emails and does not show up for appointments. I had to make three and he did not show up for any of them. He wrote a demand letter for my case to a different party than stated in the contract, when he was only supposed to provide advice about contacting someone else, then claimed he went above and beyond which I should pay for. I received no communication before or after the letter was sent, until I asked for status and was informed of the letter with an apology that they forgot to send me a copy. The contract was also supposed to include advising but I was never contacted and had to pay additional charges to hear from Mr Kay, which again took three tries. In the end, when I talked to Mr. Kay, he said that he could not help me until I received the information requested in the demand letter...which was my reason for hiring an attorney...I was having difficulty getting the information. This office is so ineffective please don't waste your time or money. I am working with a new attorney who has better communication skills and is more capable and concerned about my case.

I was referred to Alfred Kay through my employer's legal plan. Calling from Georgia, I needed an attorney in Texas to represent the case as my ex-wife had moved my daughter half way across the country. I was limited to the visitation rules in Georgia and quickly realized that I needed an updated decree. Mr. Kay was very helpful by phone and we came to an agreement before I even flew to Texas to meet him. His paralegal, Cassie, is a delight to work with. I was kept up-to-date on all legal matters and we filed the modification request shortly after discussing the case. During the required mediation in Travis County, I felt I had a voice in the matter, which I did not have during the divorce proceeding in Georgia. We were able to obtain standard visitation rights for parents that reside over 100 miles away, which makes it much easier to maintain a relationship with my daughter. We also worked out a schedule that will allow her to fly to Georgia on her own soon. Before updating the decree, I had no quality visitation time during the summers or holidays, and this year we look forward to spending summer together. Thank you Alfred and Cassie, I appreciate all of your continued efforts while the opposing counsel continued to drag their feet.

My Kay won all (there were several) student loan NCSLT cases related to my deadbeat ex, and saved me north of $50k in debt that was originally agreed to NOT be paid by me. He was referred by a colleague of my divorce enforcement atty as he has been successful defending people in cases by National Collegiate Student Loan Trust.

Highly recommend Alfred Kay!!! If you want a hard working, witty, no nonsense lawyer, then he is your man! He represented me in a recent divorce relocation case. I couldn't be happier. He and his legal assistant Cassie kept me up to date weekly. Never left to wonder what heck is going on???? Never sugar coated, to the point and is a pure genius. Fabulous customer service, repeat customer, and will refer again, and again, and again!!! Bonus.....he has an intelligent sense of humor ;-)

We reached out to this lawyer in the morning and his secretary requested 1 document from us that was a temporary order. The issue was regarding a custody matter and it was an emergency as the primary parent was admitted to the mental hospital and we needed emergency protective orders and revocation of a temporary order. We requested to meet with the lawyer right away and was advised he will be available in 30 minutes, the office was 20 miles away so we were on our way. When we got there his secretary scolded us because she meant available for a call and not to meet in person, we advised her that it is ok and we can talk to him in the car. He called and said that he is reviewing one document and will call back. We called him right back and told him that he does not have all the paperwork and does not know what we needed. I was with my uncle and since he speaks English as a second language, I was assisting. Alfred kept on saying "I only speak to one person" he kept on cutting my uncle off. My uncle told him "my ex", Alfred cut him off and said "sir, you are not divorced!", my uncle stated that he was divorced, Alfred cut him off again and said "YOU ARE NOT MARRIED, I DO NOT HAVE THE FINAL DIVORCE DECREE". We told him that is why we want to tell you what the issue is, he cut us off again. He would not listen to the issue and could not care less about the situation. I do not recommend this person to anyone. He wasted a whole day of our time and did not even assist. His attitude was one that did not want to help and one that did not care for the 5 and 11 year old that were in danger. Stay away.

I hired Mr. Kay to represent me in my divorce proceeding. I was referred to him by my legal insurance plan representative. I was immediately suspicious of him. He did not initially want to meet in person but rather wanted me to hire him over the phone sight unseen. Once I got to his office, which was old and run-down, I understood why. He appeared disheveled. He was condescending to speak with. He would interrupt me when I tried to answer his questions. But he stated he could get results in my case far faster than any of the other attorneys I spoke with and was reasonably priced so I decided to gamble on him. Boy, was I in for a let down. Instead of settling my case promptly, he took my retainer and only occasionally contacted me to ask for more documents even though my case has been ongoing for almost a year now and he had access to months worth of documentation. He claimed to be a Georgetown lawyer but actually works on the other side of Austin and only occasionally makes his way to Georgetown. I believe he never had any intention of resolving my case in a timely manner and was instead dragging things out for personal financial gain. When I called him out for his lack of visible progress in my case, he got offended and quit my case.
