I had an awful and terribly expensive experience with this law firm. Sold on the firm by the owner, I was passed to underling after underling. A simple case with a $5000 retainer i was told was a “slam dunk” ended up costing $40,000. The person I was in conflict with was inflamed by this law firm. They filed suit on him without giving him a chance to rectify the situation. I emailed numerous times to the firm I felt I should get some kind of credit or refund especially for the work done by John Hill. John Hill failed to do easement due diligence. The firm ignored me. I absolutely would go elsewhere for representation.

I live in Virginia and need information about Texas real estate law. I found the Silberman Law Firm on the web, filled in a form about my questions, and didn't know what to expect. A lawyer from the firm, Mr. McMillan, called me right away and not only knew what I wanted, but answered all my question, and even gave me very complete explanations about the Texas laws. If I lived in Texas I would definitely use their firm and I recommend them highly.

Garrett McMillan is an excellent attorney with teeth. He helped win my case, with excellent strategies and remained calm and drilled it home, of the terms at hand. He was very thorough, returned my calls and emails promptly, which calmed my anxiety. We won our case and I would definitely seek his services again when looking for a knowledgeable lawyer who definitely knows the law.

If you do not see Ms. Austin’s review immediately below this one, sort by “newest”, you can see that review from today. In their reply to Ms. Austin’s review, Silberman’s first feeble attempt to deflect from Chris Heald’s unprofessional behavior is that since she was not the primary point of contact that she is incorrect in her statements. To set the record straight, Ms. Austin is an employee of mine who handled the initial case during 2021 to 2023 just as much as I did. I was the initial point of contact and I was involved in today’s call. She was not aggressive in any way. In fact, I was surprised how constrained she was able to be despite Mr. Heald’s condescending tone. Was Mr Heald frustrated with someone who was question his company’s billing? Or, is this how he speaks to women who question him personally? The fact is they billed us (Latitude 17) for time spent helping someone who was not a party involved in our case. Had Mr. Heald tempered his attitude for even a moment, perhaps he would have understood that the attorney working on our case billed us for the assistance he provided to a title company that had been hired by someone interested in purchasing our neighbors property. Meaning, we paid for work that was neither for our benefit nor even the benefit of the opposing party, but instead was for the benefit of a vendor/contractor of a person who was interested in purchasing the neighboring building. Having to explain to Mr. Heald and Silberman why this is not a party we ever had involvement with and why we should not have to pay for the work they performed is beyond ridiculous and should be a concern for anyone considering hiring this firm. Another point Mr. Heald attempts to make in their reply is that since they overcharged months ago, that we should just accept the overcharge. This is not behavior that is typical of an ethical firm and should be a red flag for any potential clients of this firm. Their reply also states that they are obligated to resolve disputes as amicably as they can. Here again it seems Mr. Heald does not understand the difference between representing my company’s best interest and assisting a title company that I had no knowledge of or any business dealings with. So, suggesting that the work they performed on my behalf benefited me is laughable. Furthermore, Mr. Heald states in his reply that “no time was charged” when the first attorney left and the second took over. This is grossly inaccurate and contradicts what we were billed for; it also contradicts what the second attorney stated when he told us that he had to spend some time getting caught up on the details of our case. After a long period of our first attorney, John Hill not replying to my calls and emails, we learned that he abruptly left the firm after we had already spent thousands working on our case. When the second, new attorney was assigned to our case, he spent a significant amount of time getting up to speed. How Silberman and Mr. Heald do not understand how there are additional costs and inefficiencies when reassigning an attorney to a case is very telling of the type firm this is. Or, does Silberman stand by this “no time was charged” statement and they owe me a refund for their billing mistake? Those reading these reviews would benefit from reading the reviews on Yelp. Google reviews are more easily manipulated compared to Yelp and it is very surprising that there are many good reviews here on Google while the majority on Yelp are 1 star (take a look for yourself – four of their last 6 reviews were all 1-star, in fact). The bottom line: despite Silberman Law Firm’s efforts to deflect blame, there is no excuse for the dismissiveness and condescending tone that Chris Heald exhibited on 5/3/2024 and anyone who is considering this firm should highly consider any one of the countless good firms out there.
