Very well experienced lawyer

Very thoughtful and professional approach to the client. Todd and Peter are very nice and kind. Highly recommend.

Be warned, these guys are very unethical. I went with my GF to see about hiring Todd Shapiro to defend her from a baseless felony charge in Collin County. Todd presented a worse-case scenario and so we agreed to hire him initially. He requested $10k, which I paid via my credit card. My GF never signed an engagement letter or any contract with Todd. Within days, we found out that the charge had been dismissed, however when we contacted Todd in order to get our money back, he refused to discuss the matter. My credit card company reversed the charge, however after Todd sent a threatening letter to them, the re-instated the charge. So bottom line is that I am out $10k and Todd worked less than 4 hours in total. DO NOT USE SHAPIRO unless you want to get ripped off.

Please don’t come here. these people only want your money. The “free consultation” was ONLY to tell me that I can’t do the divorce by myself. The nerve.

I was given Howard's name as a referral from another attorney I had used for something else, and the Shapiro Law Firm did not let me down. Both Howard Shapiro and Lisa Jones were always quick to respond to my inquiries regarding my case, (even often on nights or weekends), and they both went out of their way to make sure I was always happy with the decisions I/we made. I was so glad to have their legal advice throughout this case, because they definitely gave me a perspective I hadn't thought of. Thanks to them, I didn't feel stressed even during days sitting with Howard in mediation or court. I was pleased that even after settlements were reached, they continued to follow up to make sure everything was taken care of. In review of the bills, I believe the fees were definitely fair. I had prepaid a significant amount and I am expecting a refund of nearly half.

I can genuinely say that Mr Todd Shapiro is someone who I wholeheartedly recommend. I have personally used his services, as he came to me highly recommended, and I know of at least two other people who feel the same. Expect him to be stern and to the point, but his knowledge and care still comes off as human. I encourage you to do your research, but Mr Todd Shapiro comes with my highest of recommendations.

Todd Shapiro is absolutely the BEST there is. He truly cares about his clients and is invested in their case. Always available by phone or text and responds promptly. He is well known and respected in the community, and will fight hard for you as his client. I was blessed to have found Todd and know in my heart that I was led to him for a reason. Todd - myself and my family don't have the words to express our gratitude for all of your hard work and compassion. Thanks again !

Went thru a rough divorce with a non-reasonable ex. Couldn't ask for a better Lawyer. OUTSTANDING,,, Howard Shapiro is a professional, respectable, negligible lawyer. His paralegal Lisa Jones was FANTASTIC!!! She is awesome, having all the answers and handling everything in a timely matter. Having the both of them on my side was the best decision I made during this difficult time in my life. Cant Thank the both of them enough. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LAW FIRM.

Howard Shapiro: Dishonest billing practices, lack of communication, poor representation. Had to fire him. (see edit below for my response to the owner's response) BILLING: His contract uses deceptive language to trick you into thinking the fee arrangement is something other than what it is. He does this by using language that most people assume is a typical retainer fee agreement (where any balance of funds will be returned upon completion of the case), but he buries a few lines of legalese in the contract that ensures he keeps all fees even if the case is settled quickly. This incentivizes him to do the bare minimum necessary to get a settlement (or possibly dismissal) so he can keep the entire balance of the retainer with as little effort as possible. POOR REPRESENTATION: Because of the billing structure, Howard was giving me poor legal advice and capitulating to opposing counsel at every step. Additionally, he did not review documents and submitted documents to the court that stalled the case and entered me into bad legal arrangements that any high-integrity lawyer would have never allowed. This dereliction of duty alone cost me thousands of dollars during my case. Also, he was never prepared for meetings and didn't know basic facts about my case. LACK OF COMMUNICATION: If you hire him, be prepared to be ghosted for weeks at a time. I had to email and call multiple times over several weeks before I would get a response. SUMMARY: If you still want to hire Howard, make sure you read the entirety of the contract. He will try to pressure you into signing it on the spot using car salesman-like tactics. I recommend avoiding this law firm entirely and going with a more honest and reputable law firm for you family law matters. Edit: It is clear that if you look carefully through the reviews on this site and others relating to family law matters, there is a pattern of complaints about deceptive billing, lack of professionalism, and overall poor representation, especially as it pertains to Howard. I felt obligated to warn readers what they will encounter if they hire Howard. My only grudge is that I unfortunately had to terminate Howard for very poor representation. A lawyer should be transparent with fees and always advocate for his or her client.
