I needed an attorney to help me appeal not only a decision against me for my unemployment benefits, but for also missing my first appeal hearing with Texas Workforce Commission. Evan was straightforward with me, and very professional, he was also kind and sympathetic to my case. He wrote a convincing letter to the Texas Workforce appeal tribunal and got me a new appeal hearing—the first hoop to jump through in getting my unemployment benefits. Before the appeal hearing he prepared me for best and worst case scenarios, there was no candy coating, and I appreciated the professionalism here. Not only did I have to prove that my employer terminated me without good cause, but now I had to prove that I had good cause for missing my first appeal hearing. He went through the events with me and found good reason for me to claim missing the hearing was not my fault, and additionally realized my employer had not followed their own protocol with me for terminating employees. During the hearing Evan had a chance to ask questions to me about events. This doesn't happen when you do not have an attorney. He was able to bring up a few events that the hearing officer had not asked me about. It was this evidence that led to the reversal of the original decision and that I had good cause to miss my first appeal hearing. I highly recommend Evan in dealing with the Texas Workforce Commission. He has seen it from both sides and know all the ins and outs. Thank you Evan!!
