I recently did some Estate planning with the Cox Law Group.
I could not be more pleased with the results. While I was doing my research, Cynthia Cox took the time to fully explain the strategies we would be implementing. She laid everything out in an email and was available by phone to fully explain every detail and answer my many questions. Once I retained the Cox Law firm I worked with Cynthia and her associate Dawn Hartman. Dawn was great. She was knowledgeable, efficient and responsive. A life experience that I didn’t see coming, and never want to go through again. Finding out, after the passing of my sister and then my brother-in-law, and then told by the Attorney that wrote their Will, that I needed to hire my own Attorney, due to the fact that it was a codicil will. Then through a friend, since I live in Florida, recommended Dan Zigray of Zigray Law Office, LLC. I worked with Dan for two and a half years. Always moving forward and communicating with what the next step would be in trying to see an end. I always felt that we had a very good relationship in talking everything over and Dan always listening. I would wish that no one would have to go through this with family, but unfortunately that is not always how life works out. Thank you Dan !

Family disputes regarding money and inheritance are difficult and sometimes unexpected and can cause a great deal of stress for a long period of time. We were referred to Dan Zigray by one of his peers and he came highly recommended. We quickly found Dan to be someone we were comfortable with in handling our case and he was very well versed on every aspect of what needed to be done and what could be done. I am so glad we got Mr. Butts to handle our estate and trust. He is down to earth and doesn't try to impress. His assistant and he work very well together and always addressed our questions with understandable answers - not legal mumbo jumbo!
We used another attorney years ago in the area but hard problems with their lenghy response times and arrogant attitudes.
We would definitely recommend Mr. Butts for estate planning. He will simplify your desires for estate planning instead of trying to complicate your estate. In other words, he will not try to gouge you.

After close to 4 years in family court and being robbed blindly for 15k by a lawyer who appeared once in court and missed two appearances I can truly say I found a lawyer who will truly represent your best interest. I've witness horrible advice and horrible results by lawyers who don't care about anything but their pay. Michael did and fought for what I asked and truly shined in court making both the opposing lawyer and the Child support lead lawyers look like fools and liars which is what they are.

When I met with Mr. Parker, he took the time to ask questions and listen in order to determine how to arrange my estate with the best interests of myself and my loved ones in mind. Jennifer Watkins worked to get me the best possible outcome for a DUI charge. After a rough night, I felt ashamed and embarrassed. Ms. Watkins was one of the first lawyers I spoke with and right away she made me feel relieved. During our first call she could tell I was extremely stressed, her calm demeanor put me at ease. She told me, she was willing to help whether I hired her or not. I had not experienced that type compassion from any of the other lawyers I had met with.
I knew I was facing a challenging situation; however she helped me understand all the possible outcomes. She was very responsive to all my questions whether by phone or email. She helped me navigate through the entire process from the DMV hearing to the court case. She is well versed in the Boulder County courts; she knows several of the Judges and their tendencies. Title: Concerns About Caprice Collins' Role as Special Co-Trustee
My late grandfather was a client of Caprice Collins, and she named herself as the Special Co-Trustee in his trust. When serious issues of theft and mismanagement by the trustees arose, Ms. Collins failed to fulfill her fiduciary duties. Instead, she submitted a notarized resignation, abandoning her responsibilities without appointing a successor as required by the trust.
Caprice responded to me directly but did not post her reply publicly on Google. In her response, she attempted to justify her actions by stating her firm focuses on estate planning, not trust litigation. However, her role as Special Co-Trustee obligated her to act in the best interest of the trust, regardless of her firm’s stated focus. Resigning during a critical time for the trust was a breach of fiduciary responsibility.
She is now attempting to have my review removed while refusing to address her breach of duty. Transparency and accountability are essential in estate planning. I encourage anyone considering her services to ask detailed questions about what happens if issues arise within a trust.

I want to preface this by stating that I was not personally a client of Caprice Collins. However, my late grandfather was, and she set up his trust, naming herself as the Special Co-Trustee. She also set up a trust for my parents and several other family members, consistently listing herself as the Special Trustee. While she charges extra for this service, my experience has shown that when the time comes for her to fulfill those duties, she does not deliver.
In my grandfather’s case, serious problems arose with the trustees, including theft and mismanagement of trust assets. My mother, as a beneficiary, was directly impacted, and I had to step in as her attorney-in-fact to protect her interests. When we reached out to Ms. Collins to address these issues, she claimed she had not been “retained” to act. However, her role as the Special Co-Trustee did not require any additional “retention”—it was her fiduciary duty to address these matters. Instead of fulfilling her responsibilities, she resigned from her position, violated the trust by failing to appoint a new Special Trustee as required, and abandoned her duties entirely. This left the beneficiaries to deal with the fallout on their own.
I have since been advised by other attorneys, including former members of her staff, that Ms. Collins is primarily a salesperson who focuses on drafting trusts but lacks the knowledge or experience to handle disputes or problems when they inevitably arise. I’ve also been told she has never set foot inside a courtroom, which explains her inability to act when real issues occur. She overcharges clients for drafting trusts and making simple changes, but when challenges arise, she disappears.
Based on this experience, I strongly advise against utilizing Ms. Collins’ services if you need someone reliable to handle trust-related disputes or fiduciary duties. While she may appear competent when drafting trusts, she has failed to demonstrate the responsibility, accountability, and expertise necessary to act in the best interests of the beneficiaries. If you are looking for someone who will truly stand by their word and fulfill their fiduciary obligations, Ms. Collins is not the right choice.

The Living Trust information and services presented were very informative. This information highlighted where my family is deficient in protecting our family assets. I consulted with Michael several months ago regarding an issue with my landlord. It was not a cut-and-dry issue. My apartment was sweltering hot (80+ degrees) even with the AC on full blast. I was getting headaches. But the AC system was "working"; it just wasn't strong enough for the heat. Michael was kind and compassionate. My landlord is a multinational, publicly traded corporation. In other words, my landlord is a stock ticker. It felt overwhelming to try to confront my landlord when they have billions of dollars and a team of lawyers, especially when it was not a cut-and-dry case. Michael helped outline my options and explained the pros, cons, and risks of each. I asked several very detailed questions, and he provided useful information on all of them. It felt like I had someone on my side. Ultimately, I negotiated with my landlord to move to a downstairs unit in the shade, which resolved the issue without needing to go through the stress of a legal process.

We are contemplating a move back to Washington state where we lived for many years. Without proper estate planning we would potentially be subject to the Washington estate tax. n our initial contacts with the firm, we clearly identified that we were residents in another state. We were instructed to provide our detailed financial picture as well as our current estate planning documents which we provided promptly and told that our information would be forwarded to the attorneys for evaluation. The following is the email response.
“Thank you for filling out and returning your Questionnaire.
I will forward your information to our attorneys for review. Once they have completed their review, I will be back in touch with you regarding a quote for services and the next steps for scheduling.”
Well over a month went by with no word back from STIB. I finally contacted them by email requesting a status update. Within minutes, I received the following reply.
“Thank you very much for contacting our firm. Unfortunately, we are not able to take on your case. Our firm does not advise out-of-state residents on tax issues. Our focus is estate planning and long term care planning.”
The STIB website clearly tax issues as part of estate planning. I also found no restrictions on attorneys in Washington state providing consultation to out-of-state residents considering residency in Washington.
Needless to say, I was astounded by what I consider to extremely poor communication and timely follow-up. If it is indeed not their policy to advise out-of-state residents on tax issues, I would have expected to have been informed of that policy up front thus saving us the time of compiling and sending detailed and confidential financial and estate planning information. In my opinion, this represents incompetent and totally unprofessional behavior.

It’s quite possible that if you know what to ask or what’s happening that they will be great for you, but for me I ended up with a $120 invoice for two emails I didn’t understand what to do with, going to look for someone else to help us setup out family will.
