Hire Jessica NOW..........I faced two very serious misdemeanor charges stemming from a toxic romantic relationship that threatened to upend my future. Jessica got the prosecutor and judge to drop BOTH charges despite long odds and a mercurial, hostile plaintiff. Jessica literally saved me and my family, allowing me to close an awful chapter and granting me a new lease on life. I'm a discerning critic and customer on all matters and was not going to settle for anything less than the best when it came to my criminal defense, a position i never imagined i would find myself in. So i thoroughly researched Northern Virginia criminal lawyers and ultimately chose Jessica based on her stellar reputation and a face-to-face consultation. I picked Jessica over other outstanding NOVA lawyers because I believed she had the perfect combination of intellect, experience, passion, and ethics. I felt strongly that Jessica would work relentlessly to defend me. Jessica did not disappoint. When we met before my court appearance, she was even more prepared than I anticipated, and my expectations were already high. Not only did she have plans for several different contingencies, but she had done so much research on legal precedents that i think she probably knew more about the charges and laws they were predicated upon than the prosecutor and judge (and legislators who wrote the laws) combined. But preparation and research are one thing. Execution on the field of battle requires a totally different skill set. Once again, Jessica did not disappoint. She is a born leader who handled multiple battle fronts---the police detective, the prosecutor, the volatile plaintiff, the judge---with a poise and resolve indicative of a seasoned commander. She was Spartan King Leonidas at the Battle of Thermopylae: cool-under-fire, undaunted by setbacks, brilliant. Another characteristic that really sets Jessica apart from other attorneys is her emotional intelligence. i consulted A LOT of great lawyers before choosing a defense attorney, because my future literally hung in the balance. Many of them were clearly competent but did not know how to connect with clients emotionally, a pretty essential requirement for a defense attorney given the anxiety that legal charges generate and sustain in defendants. Jessica consistently said the right thing to me, with the right delivery, at the right moment. When a client needs reassurance, she provides that. When a client needs tough love, she delivers that too. She intuitively senses when a given approach is needed and she efficiently chooses from her toolkit like Steven Spielberg chooses camera lenses and angles for great cinematic effect. Before i break into a sonnet about her, i will conclude with this: My day in court was EXTREMELY stressful and i really couldn't imagine leaving that day in anything other than a downcast mood. As i played it out in my head beforehand, even the best case scenario of having the charges dropped would leave the bitter residue that there were charges to begin with. But Jessica somehow made the experience cathartic, triumphant, and encouraging. I hope to God i never have to go through that again, but if ever do, Jessica Carmichael is the first person I'm going to call.

Ms. Evelyn Mitchell is the prototype of what a good lawyer is. She is passionate, knowledgeable and efficient. A good lawyer is not only knowledgeable of the law but has the emotional intelligence and compassion to truly be there for their client and Ms. Mitchel does just that. Though at the time it seemed like an impossible case to win Ms. Mitchell went above and beyond to make sure I was found not guilty in a jury trial. Not only was she able to get most of my charges dismissed, as well as helping me be found innocent, she also took on my expungement which was another hurdle to go through. I could honesty write a book of the past two years because that's how bizarre everything was but with the help of Ms. Mitchell, that book has an amazing ending that wowed my family and friends. Hiring her is the best thing anyone can do.

Yancey Ellis did pro bono work for me for a charge I received after being purposefully arrested at a civil disobedience/peaceful protest.
