I cannot say enough amazing things about Mr. Barlow and Christina. My girlfriend and I came to them due to a violation, and were very unsure of what the outcome would be. I had originally decided to work with Mr. Barlow due to hearing how he seems to always get the job done with the best results, and that's exactly what happened. Christina was a bonus because she was able to answer every question, be thorough, and give my family and girlfriend peace of mind. I am currently with the people I love today, and I have them to thank. They understood how important it was I was able to be home to take care of my family, and make a good life for myself, and that's what I am able to do. My girlfriend is forever grateful because I am able to be there for her, and its because they truly cared and listened to her. Again, we cannot say enough great things, and will be forever grateful. You will be making the best decision to hire then.

I sought out Mr. Barlow because I was charged with a DUI. Mr. Barlow was very direct without being condescending. He took the time to explain the processes and possible outcomes. He also had experience with prosecuting DUI's, so he knew what to look for. Thanks to his great attention to details, he discovered something that was omitted on the warrant that the prosecutor did not catch. As a result of this, the judge reduced the time I have to serve in jail. I am very thankful for him representing me.

I had the pleasure of Jason Barlow representing me in court. He is a all around great guy, very much a people person . I hired him for a speeding ticket and he helped me get it reduced. Listen to me very carefully...DO NOT get a court appointed attorney! Get a lawyer who will make a serious difference! Barlow is extremely experienced, goes about his business in the court room, and knows the ropes. And if you are worried about your wallet, he will work with you. If you have legal issues, this is the man that will represent you well. Period! If you are without options, give him a try...it is far better than the alternative...

I would highly recommend Mrs. Shelly Wood for counsel and representation. After completing my final overseas assignment and nearing retirement from the Navy, my marriage was in decline and had passed the point of no return, even after multiple sessions of family counseling. I had gone through two previous lawyers and the futility of mediation; not yet having retired, my active duty status was constantly used against me throughout the entire process. I was left with almost no visitation with my three children, and nearly no prospect of increasing visitation after the final decree was entered. When I finally got back on my feet after the financial ruin of the divorce process, I was able to move back to the school districts of the marital home, and was in a better position to support the kids’ school routine. I knew the process of changing custody/visitation would not be easy, and from experience with the previous lawyers, that if I didn’t find good representation that I would be throwing away a lot of money for absolutely nothing. I asked all the people that I knew that had lived in the HR area for decades, and Parks Zeigler was the name most repeated. At the consultation with the firm, I was recommended to Shelly because the case would be heard in Chesapeake and her office is conveniently located across from the courthouse which exponentially adds to efficiency and reduces fees. Shelly was professional and direct; she questioned my motives by challenging me in the same manner that opposing counsel repeatedly did. This both ensured that she was arguing my personal interests, but also prepared me for the inevitable speaking rolls that lay ahead in courtrooms that can make or break the entire case. The custody case, due to retaliatory efforts by the opposition, led to several other cases. Mrs. Wood handled each of these flawlessly. She didn’t sugar coat anything and never gave false promises. If she felt that pursuing a particular avenue would be more costly than its return, she made that clear from the beginning. I have since had property returned that was previously withheld, equal legal and physical custody of my children, and appropriately adjusted child support: which equals quality time with my children and the ability to provide for them. If I had started this process with Mrs. Wood from the beginning, then I could have avoided several years of financial and emotional turmoil and my kids would have found stability much sooner.

Attorney Shelly Wood represented us in two court cases over four years. We had a complicated custody situation involving a special needs child. Attorney Wood was very responsive. She also took the time to understand the issues and crafted agreement language that addresses my daughter’s long-term needs which we are very thankful for.
