Met with me and the lady looked at all my paperwork for some stuff we that happened with Portside rehab after about 20 minutes of going through all my stuff she pulls out the first document that I handed her in the beginning and said I’m sorry, but we can’t represent you. mind you for the 20 minutes she was rifling through all of my stuff she made four pages of notes so this makes me think that maybe she’s not being so truthful and somebody who is not part of my best interest is a client of hers already??? on top of that she lied about the validity and legality of one of my documents. I guess she thought me to be of inferior intelligence and would just walk off and be dumb but I am willing to bet money that she is connected to the other side of my legal problems and this was just researching what I may or may not have. Very very shady. Oh yeah then they were whispering and cutting their eyes out the corners when was leaving

Lucas (paralegal) handled my will, durable power of attorney, advance medical directive and authorization for release of protective health information, and completion, review and filing of my father's will with the pertinent officials in the courts exceeded expectations. In the US Navy, we have a saying for work that exceeds expectations BRAVO ZULU to the attorney and paralegal!

Mary Ellen was very knowledgeable and professional, a pleasure to work with. She educated me on the pitfalls of some common benificiary mistakes and also explained a Will vs. a Trust. She made a long needed process easy!

I’m using Hook Law for Elder Care services, I worked with Letha McDowell and Mary Ellen McCoy, mostly Mary Ellen, the process is not for the faint of heart, but I stuck with what I was asked to do. I almost gave up but had faith Mary Ellen would take care of it, she did and I was so relived, it turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. Recently I had to renew the application and used Mary Ellen to handle it for me. She told me I could do it myself and save a little money, it’s hard to beat someone that does this for a living and I’d just screw it up, so she completed the application for me and sent it in. Five days before the application was to expire, I received a letter from Virginia Beach Social Services saying the application was being cancelled. I heard they never received it so I emailed Mary Ellen but got an out of office reply until Monday. I spent two sleepless nights worrying about the fall out. Finally, Saturday I realized that Leatha and Mary Ellen were damm good at what they do. I figured Mary Ellen would be back Monday, find out what happened and take care of it, I could not imagine Hook Law not being able to fix this. Mary Ellen is a bulldog I‘ve found out and I slept like a baby the next two nights. Mary Ellen called me Monday morning, and within a few hours called me back saying everything has been resolved and the application was approved. Any lawyer can fill out forms but if things go wrong, you need someone that will take care of the problems, thank you Leatha and Mary Ellen.

Great firm. I retained their service to assist with an estate. I don' want to post names, but the attorney and paralegal were understanding, responsive and helpful. I thought the fees were reasonable and payment on their website was easy, Would definitely use again.

I reached out to the firm in dire need of guidance for a Medicaid application situation for my mother. They got me in that day and already had a plan of action put together by the end of the day. Mr. Hook and Ms. Mary Ellen fully understood my dilemma and put my mind at ease as they took care of the situation.
