I hired Ms. Spalter to help me establish child supportas well as a parenting plan I desired as the stable, custodial parent in my divorce filing. She failed to accomplish anything and created a messy situation, in some cases responding to my ex’s lawyer and his responses coming back reminding her of the law she was misinterpreting. There was no strategy or organized plan, just reaction. I ended my contract with her after she burned through my trust fund with multiple letters and inefficiency in managing my case. I would not recommend Ms. Spalter.

Ruth Spalter was referred to me by a friend. She represented him in a custody case. I hired her for a similar case. I was told she was a "bulldog", meaning that she is rough and gets down to business. I highly recommend her.

I hired Ms. Spalter to establish child support for my children as well as a parenting plan. After paying her tens of thousands of dollars and six months later she failed to accomplish anything. I was no further ahead. I terminated my contract with her and hired another Lawyer to do the job. I would not recommend Ms. Spalter.

Ruth S was my divorce lawyer. Ruth and her staff were helpful, and seriously on the ball. My ex -husband was so vindictive and convincing that the court and guardian took my three kids away from me with no warning and manipulated all involved that i was an Unfit Mom. This is when i hired Ruth. with a lot of work she turned it all around, cought my ex in lies, confirmed his drug use ect. Ultimately winning my case and getting my kids back. I am convinced that Without Ruth my children would not have grown up in a loving home with me, happy and successful. I owe everything to Ruth. I undoubtedly recommend Ruth, she is a bobcat in the court room.

DUI Heroes really lives up to their name! Every member of the team lead with compassion but were highly professional. They were detail oriented, commutative and organized. Rachel Reich was my true hero! She was top notch!!! She is firm with defense. I could tell that she truly was looking out for my best interest. I LOVED how detailed she was as I never had to question what I needed to do and what was happening. She took the scariest part out of my situation which was the unknown. The success of the team is definitely inspired by Jonathan Dichter, the founder. He is very compassionate and his calmness and kindness helped tremendously in the beginning. My family and I were highly anxious and scared and his demeanor helped calm that down so we could make a quality decision. I also want to thank Lexi Bryon and Christopher Wong. They were on the team that helped me and I always appreciated their updates and friendliness. I almost forgot. They give a deal to get your breathalyzer at Lifesafer so you can save some money. This is not a cheap experience so every savings is valuable. What mattered to me most is that they NEVER made me feel ashamed. They actually said they were proud of my accomplishments in recovery (which I entered after my DUI). I was not in a good place and this was very much needed to help me recover. From every morsal of my heart - Thank you all!!

Spoke with Chris Wong. My boyfriend is dealing with WA DoL. He's so close to getting his compliance completed when the 'goal line' was moved. Chris confirmed that they are a bureaucracy & with each interaction, he gets a different answer Appreciated Chris' quick response and his voice of reason.

Peter has been knocking it out of the park for me for atleast the last few years. He’s very consistent. And I have nothing but praises for him and his team for all of the positive results they’ve shown me. If anyone is looking for a “GREAT” attorney, Peter J Nichols is your man. As a disabled veteran my only advise for you is to be patient, don’t harass him, “DO YOUR PART”, and pay him. He’s worth his weight in gold. Thanks again Peter, you’re the best

Peter took over my estate case when I felt the judge was not giving my another attorney the proper respect. I'm sure the judge was doing what he felt was correct in giving the plaintiff every chance, but the judge stated one thing had been overlooked. Peter worked with my other attorney and calmed things down with the judge. He predicted the outcome of the bench trial exactly as the it came to be. The case was previously overworked and Peter broke it down into the simple case it was. At trial, the judge listened to the plaintiff's case, and then dismissed the case prior to listening to our case and reimburse me for legal expenses. What I appreciated the most was how Peter knew what would happen and where he needed to put his effort. I only wish I would have listened to him abut ignoring the "noise" (as he put it) rather than over working my responses. He did an excellent job in watching out for my interests and in guiding me.

Mr. Nichols represented me 17 years ago and delivered a great outcome in a personal injury case. I found myself in another personal injury dispute this year, I chose Peter Nichols again. I’ve found him to be a compassionate professional who is exceptionally efficient and his follow up skills are superb. He was friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. He guided me through the process with dedication and confidence. I recommend him without reservation!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lynnwood, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
