I have to say Mr. Pellegrini is what every lawyer starts out as, but most don't keep going. A lawyer is someone who is there to guide you through whatever your legal matter is and be your representative in court. He does just that and VERY well. My ex hired Mr. Pellegrini and was dropped because of his craziness in Mr.Pellegrini's office and court. Yelling at the judge instead of letting the lawyer speak doesn't fare well with judges. Angry and throwing a tantrum in court because you expected your lawyer to sway the judge not to give you anger management after years of domestic violence is borderline 'western state hospital' ready. Mr. Pellegrini has morals and values and takes his oath seriously. He terminated his representation of my ex for the above situations as well as my ex's criminal atty did for my ex violating a restraining order and trying to gain attention by taking pills to overdose. We need more lawyers like Mr. Pellegrini and Royce Ferguson. Thank you. You didn't work for me, but both could see that this person was clearly not right.

Wayne conducted a mediation to finalize a Parenting Plan with my intransigent (as one judge diplomatically put it), ex-wife. He did a fantastic job helping to negotiate a fair visitation schedule where my ex previously had complete control. Wayne is very considerate & knowledgeable and I would highly recommend him!

Wayne handled mediation between my daughter's father and I in August of 2012 and the outcome has literally changed our lives for the better. During my divorce, I was pro se and ex was represented by a snake-ish Spokane attorney. Multiple judges, commissioners, and attorneys in Snohomish County have had negative reaction after reading the old parenting plan...they shook their heads in disbelief. One commissioner said "This looks like it came from Lincoln County" which is where people handle their own divorces and do not know what they are doing. One attorney through CLEAR said "I don't know what judge would have approved this!"...it was THAT bad and it was completely biased and in favor of my ex. He tortured me with that plan for several years and bullied me and threatened me with contempt if I did not do everything he wanted. My daughter was traveling up to 4 weekends a month between Seattle and Spokane and on school nights just to comply with this plan. We would often arrive home after midnight on Sundays after enduring treacherous road conditions on Snoqualmie Pass. I am now very happy with our parenting plan as my daughter now never has to travel more than twice per month and her father now pays all airfare during the school year and we meet halfway during the summer. There are now also several provisions in the plan which make it very difficult for my ex to bully me or pull the crazy stuff he was doing before such as making numerous CPS reports against me, taking my daughter to Doctors and mental health specialist reporting false symptoms and behaviors as a way of trying to set up a custody battle. His power is now very limited thanks to the new plan Wayne expertly mediated and got him to agree to. My daughter is also so much healthier now that she is not traveling constantly. She was exhausted and run down and was sick quite literally almost constantly. Since the new plan has been in effect, she has only caught a minor cold or two. Wayne, I know you thought that I wasn't happy when I left your office because the one main thing I wanted, I did not get (getting visits down to once per month) BUT I want you to know that I am VERY happy! You have no idea how much better our lives are now and how much peace of mind I now have knowing that he cannot pull the same crazy stunts trying to gain custody that he was doing before. Thank you very, very much!

I would strongly discourage using wayne. I used him for a parenting plan modification and was thoroughly disappointed. After reassuring me of his confidence I ended up losing everything we went to court for. He seemed baffled by this. My child support was cut in half. Lost an extra day with my child and lost the battle as to where my child would attend school. After convincing me not to try to settle in fear of losing more and getting deeper into debt I was informed I needed to pay my balance owed in full in ten days time or would be dropped. After paying we resumed the battle. I voiced my concerns over finances and after giving my bank account information ( which may be coincidental) I was informed by my court opponent that Wayne was no longer representing me. Sure enough when I got home I had received a letter of his intent to withdrawal as my attorney. I tried calling and sent e mail to ask for reasoning as I was completely confused as well as insulted. I was never given a call back. I feel this was absolutely un professional and rude. Needless to say I am out the moneys paid and searching for a new attorney.

I rated Mr. Pelligrini as "excellent" in the responsive category due to the fact that he is very communicative and answers my every call, is available when I need to see him BUT - and this is a huge BUT - he does that to run up billable hours! He made me lots of promises as to what he would do for me, but has not been able to fulfill any of them. He told me everything I wanted to hear along the way, but when my case went to Court he was unable to deliver - and I lost! He was disorganized in Court, the Judge was constantly having to instruct him and it was horrible.

Paul recently helped me and my wife with our estate planning documents- Last Will and Testament, Living Will, Power of Attorney etc. and we are so happy with the experience. We are in our 50's and were very behind- our only will being one that we did on-line 21 years ago! Paul took time to understand our situation and then was able to tailor the necessary documents for our needs. His ability to clearly explain the reasons for certain wording and arrangements based on his extensive knowledge of tax codes and laws was amazing. We feel like we've found a lawyer that we can go to for any of our needs in the future.

Perry was informative and professional from beginning to end. He always kept me up to date on the progress of my case, and was ready to take a call from me anytime. Perry has advised me on property management questions, and he helped me when my car insurance company became less than accommodating after a hit and run accident I was involved in. Perry is a very real, very down to earth guy and I was lucky to have him.

I have used Brian's dad Bud Ashback as my attorney for years now and have always been happy with his service. This is my first time working with Brian but he is definitely following in his dad's footsteps and did a terrific job with my case. I definitely will be using him in the future if something comes up!

Brian performed well above any expectations considering what the courts were trying to do to me. I was facing serious felony charges of hate crime in 2021 ; as you know a very difficult time for such accusations to be judged fairly. He boiled it down to the facts and wasn't shaken by the blocking of nearly all my evidence by the prosecution. In the end he exposed the lies through incredible witness cross examination. He is an amazing trial lawyer and i would recommend him to anyone facing criminal prosecution. I am now able to breathe easy and i felt comfort knowing he had my back. Even as my doubts saw me start losing hope he was there to pat me on the back and assure me that we've got this. Theres not enough i can say about how incredible his performance was. Fantastic lawyer and fantastic value. Cant be beaten!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Marysville, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
