Phebe helped me prepare for my unemployment case. She explored all possible options that would help support my claim. It was a very stressful process but Phebe ensured my confidence with all the preparations we had. In the end, the claim went in my favor and I won the case. All credit to Phebe! I would not hesitate to use her service again.

If you need an attorney, I would highly recommend Phebe Enfield. Phebe helped me win my case by being very knowledgeable about the law and the process. She communicated with me regularly throughout the process. She prepared me thoroughly for testimony before the judge. I feel that the only reason I was successful was because of Phebe.

Phebe was very professional and knew every aspect of how to deal with unemployment and my appeal. She put me at ease and consulted me with any questions the judge would ask and any details of my case that he'd want to know. She was very personable and I would highly recommend her to anyone that needs an attorney. She was never too busy to speak with me and answered my emails promptly.

Phebe worked with me on a complicated and difficult case that I had been struggling with long term. She put in the work to make sure we had a winning strategy going into our hearing. I was difficult to work with on many occasions as I was overwhelmed and did not understand what I needed to do. Phebe was patient and empathetic, addressing all of my concerns as they came up. Through many hours of hard work going over my case, Phebe was able to give me the knowledge I needed to be confident that my hearing would resolve positively. The verdict was in my favor and I owe all of that to the tenacity, acumen, and understanding that Phebe brought to my case. I live my life breathing easy now, with the weight of that case lifted. Phebe is the best.

Phebe A. Enfield was the silver lining in a life totally disrupted by the Covid 19-Pandemic. I was so lucky to have her come to my aid through the efforts of a legal aid project. The disruptions brought on by a chaotic world and all the anxieties that accompanied these crazy times were very overwhelming and Phebe's great personality, understandings of the law and of human nature could not have come at a better time. I had perceived my case to be complicated and too convoluted worrying beyond imagination as to how I would be able to get the right attorney to be able to sort things out. Phebe proved to be that perfect attorney! She understood the legal matters I was facing within minutes of our first consultation. She quickly analyzed the facts I presented, prioritized the issues and explained the legal implications. She was a great listener, asked important questions, set my heart at ease and my anxieties subsided immediately. I am so appreciative and grateful for her hard work, wonderful energy, optimism and ultimately the successful outcome! Phebe's professionalism was exemplified by her knowledge of the law, ability to convey realistic outcomes, a compassionate personality and a wonderful sense of humor. She adhered to scheduled appointments, kept me well informed, responded quickly to emails and alleviated all of my anxieties in the process. Her confidence and expertise allowed me to have total trust in her and my life was no longer consumed with resolving legal matters. Phebe carried that burden. I do not hesitate to recommend her as an outstanding Attorney. She not only produced a successful outcome on my behalf but embraces the human spirit as well in the process. The world needs both!

He is honest, funny, straightforward, and moreover very intelligent. There is no reason on earth to search any further. His strategies are sound, and well thought out. Chris is human, he is all anyone could ever hope to find in an attorney. Stop your'e search right now. Aside from his legal expertise, he is kind, fair, and a hero among men. May I never be any part of a lawsuit again and end up on the litigation wheel. It is my great misfortune that Chris wasn't my first attorney. That will always be my regret. Chris said he doesn't advertise, his skills, and tenacity don't require he advertise. Please take a breath and do yourself a favor, look no further, Chris is simply more than anyone could hope for.

Chris is fair and not out to gouge anyone even the one he's up against. He has integrity and keeps the bottom line as low for the client as possible by keeping the reality upfront. We used his service for a work injury claim and a personal collection my ex was responsible for. We will rave over his service and highly recommend him!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of University Place, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
