In my opinion I wouldn’t get him as a lawyer ever again. Simply because he doesn’t do what you ask him to do. He acts as if he doesn’t work for you. Tells you one thing on the phone then as court approaches goes back on his word and act as if he didn’t say the things he said such as “fighting for no jail time” if you are telling your lawyer what you want him to argue in court or fight for then that’s exactly what should be done. I have seen people with the same if not similar cases as mine that has gotten the same outcome as me with public defenders and I say that to say don’t waste your money. The police took my jewelry and instead of my LAWYER trying to do anything to get it back he told me to do it. Does little to no work whatsoever!

I hired Ashley for my divorce as she came highly recommended. I am so very glad that I did. She made an incredibly stressful time in my life so much easier. She is very professional but is personable and easy to talk to. She and her very competent staff flawlessly took care of all legal documents, hearings, etc. In an arena I know little about, she assisted me through the maze of paperwork and legalese, making the process so much easier for me. I never felt uncertain about what was happening, which made the process so much less stressful. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an extremely competent, professional attorney.

I consulted with a few different attorneys for assistance with a family/custody/placement issues and I chose to work with Megan Phillips. She not only took the time to listen to my situation and circumstances, but I found her to be transparent, understanding and realistic with her communications and analysis of options. Ultimately I hired Megan to help with a few different issues. First, she negotiated with my children's absentee father when we did not have an existing court order in place. She also then represented me during paternity and custody proceedings. Throughout those months she was communicative, transparent, fair in presenting risk and opportunities to me, and steadfast in her commitment to the positive outcomes for myself and my children. She was also constructive yet firm with my children's father (who is a lawyer, representing himself) and worked to properly educate him on the proceedings and best case scenarios for moving forward. With Megan's engagement and persistence I was able to reach a stipulated agreement without having to go through more invasive processes. However, I felt confident with Megan's preparation should that have been necessitated. She helped me set and achieve realistic goals and at no time did I ever feel I was simply "a number" or being funneled through a one size fits all model. I'm genuinely appreciative of the Megan's experience, her guidance and commitment to lasting positive outcomes for my children. I would also like to add that I found Megan's firm, Richter & Phillips, to be just as reliable as Megan. Communicating with her office, whether on billing items, paperwork, signatures, etc., was clear and concise and her entire team properly managed all processes and expectations. I had a very contentious divorce with an Ex with mental disorders and a history of abuse. I interviewed other attorneys I was recommended, but liked Atty Richter's matter-of-fact politeness and approach very much. She was diligent with my time and I felt she was fair with her invoices. She and her staff guided me through my divorce each step of the way. I had a GAL (I would recommend Atty Richter as a GAL as well) and a few bumps along the way because of my Ex, but Atty Richter always had good advice or options for me to consider. I appreciated that Atty Richter was always prepared whenever we met or spoke over the phone. She made herself available, answered my questions promptly and thoroughly, she provided me options to consider, and when appropriate she offered ways I could save time and expense with my case. As my case proceeded, it became even more apparent that Atty Richter understands the Dane County court system extremely well. She prepared me well for my appearances in mediation/arbitration and in court. I trust and value Atty Richter's opinions, guidance and approach to my case. Hiring Atty Richter was the best decision I could have made next to getting divorced!

Megan was understanding that this was a difficult decision for me and something I was not sure about. Yet through everything she treated me with respect and caring. I had many questions about the situation and process that were answered efficiently and I never felt there were too many questions asked. Even years after it was finalized she is there for me and I feel as if I'm still a priority. So grateful for everything Megan has done for me, strongly recommend her.
