So much appreciation goes to Bob and Julia and his entire staff. Several years ago, Bob helped us set up Mom’s trust. He was so kind and explained everything clearly to Mom and family. Closing trust after Mom’s death was an emotional journey. Bob was very professional but understanding and always encouraged family to work together through misunderstandings. In this difficult time in life Bob & Julia helped us through the process as easily and promptly as possible. I would highly recommend Nennig Law Offices!

When I post a review it’s usually not for lawyers but I’m making an exception this time. I asked my financial advisor if he could recommend an estate lawyer and he gave me the Bob Nenning law firm. Bob, his associate, Julia Walsh and his staff are wonderful to work with and made the process seamless. Bob has developed an extremely helpful template that guides someone new (i.e. me) to understand the entire estate planning process. I’m a very detail-oriented person and had many follow-up questions. As a result, the process took longer than usual. Bob and Julia were very patient with me and were meticulous and thorough in answering all my questions. We are happy to have our estate plan finally completed and so extremely pleased with our experience working with Bob, Julia and his wonderful support staff, Keleigh and Kesang.

Julia Walsh of Nennig Law Offices did a great job preparing a trust termination petition for us. She was very knowledgeable and professional and we received court approval very quickly. We would definitely work with Julia and Bob again.

My husband and I worked with Bob and his team to create an estate plan. It was our first time doing so and the team was very approachable, thorough, and professional. They explained what each part of the plan meant, offered advice on things we never would have thought of (this having been our first experience of this kind), and were very down-to-earth, while being very professional. We received our services during COVID-19 quarantine and they were able to get everything done for us via phone, Zoom, and curbside pickup. I would highly recommend Nenning Law Office for estate planning needs.

I had an excellent experience with Bob and the staff at Nennig Law. While explainging the living trust and other documents, Bob was patient and thorough, with helpful advise and answers to any questions. During the process of setting up the trust, Bob and staff were prompt with return phone calls, email reminders and keeping track of all loose ends, until they were resolved. Bob was recommended to me by my financial adviser. He commented that many of his clients held Bob in high esteem.

We recently had Bob prepare a trust for us. The entire process was a positive experience. We had no idea how comprehensive and complex a trust is. We had 3 long meetings with him; no question was too small or insignificant; he was amazingly thorough and explained the many aspects of a trust with very useful diagrams and metaphors. He also worked swiftly and was careful to verify every last detail. The final treatise is beautifully organized, and we feel well prepared for the future. Bob is extremely professional, personable and easy to work with. The same holds true for his capable staff, Courtney and Keleigh.

The reason I became affiliated with this office, which I feel is in an excellent location in Madison, is because my father started a Trust and Will back around 2010 for the purposeExamples include appointing allocation of assets, how he wanted things handled at death, with specifics that Mr. Nennig, of NENNIG Law Offices, LLC, would protect my Dad, and make sure I or my brother were not lunatics out to get my Dad committed so we could get control... just kidding but really, you never know. Bob’s job is such, among a hundred other things to make everything go smoothly for everyone, to make my Dad’s wishes of his will and Trust occur. It takes extra knowing and specialty to do this sort of work. •My Dad’s final changes were to make me and my brother Co-trustees equally handling his assets once he became deceased. He was kind to do so, because he had property as he was a realtor, semi-retired and slipping into dementia in 2012. Paperwork goes into the trust and the attorney takes care of his client making sure all of the wishes are granted and covers everything. The Trust agreement with all of the paperwork, plan, the process, is easier and fulfilled my father‘s wishes when he passed. Early on he wanted me as medical power of attorney and my brother power of attorney for financial (really both) at a certain point, and how his land was to be set, how he wanted to be cremated, where his ashes were to be spread, by who, etc., details. Bob took care of all the things that he is specialized to do so and did an excellent job from beginning to end- just a week ago. I found myself sending him a thank you note with tears in my eyes because he and his staff made this whole process so much easier. I don’t know-I think my brother and I would have been completely lost and for sure it would have been a huge mess taking years to settle everything. Figuring it all out. But that is not the only reason I thanked Bob. The attorney I met, Bob Nennig, in 2010 for the first time, feeling extremely quite awkward to discuss a subject of my Dad’s passing when at the time he was fine, was extremely nice, friendly, personable, and made me feel at ease right away. We met multiple times to discuss what had to go into the trust, what paperwork, and what actions needed to take place. Bob spoke slowly in all of the meetings and always took care to look me in the eye and to make sure that I understood everything, helpful in referrals to accountants, his office has grown, has more people. Later when my father became more difficult to deal with and had more dementia, I had to phone Bob a couple times and discuss my father as he also had another problem that compounded the situation.•My father changed over the years and passed this last summer on June 13, 2018 after cardiac arrest, clots in lungs, and long hospital stay, could not eat solids, lost weight, got weak. My brother and I met with Bob in WI to discuss matters-taxes, signed forms. My Dad having hired Bob to put the Trust together made it SO MUCH easier because paperwork was ready to be signed, Bob knew everything for my brother and me to do, had everything organized through this process, would mail, send thumb drive, letters, not too much, just enough not over-billing.•I visited my Dad very frequently for several years during his letting go, giving up phase, the business, his life, dementia coming more so had to fly back and forth frequently. We met with Bob on multiple occasions.•Recently the trust was Closed we received the final letter from Bob, and even now my heart hurts and my eyes are filled to the brim thinking of my Dad, the memories I won’t forget sitting at the table with Bob. He was so kind, so personally involved yet had everything taken care of to go to court, file paperwork with the county, state; lists were long before, during and after my dad passed. We only had to do our part. Bob had clarity, kindness and professionalism. I’m grateful to him.•He gets paid but did his job where he protected my Dad keeping him the priority. Highly recommended!

Bob Nennig is an Estate Planning attorney. He helps people prepare their lives and finances for their death or disability. This sounds simple enough. Everybody dies, and it should not be that difficult to figure out what we have. So, all we have to do is figure out where we want things to go and put it in writing. But there is a lot going on here. It is one thing to acknowledge that everyone is going to die at some point. This is very clinical in a sense. We are talking about other people and of course they will. Now, say that about yourself. This is not so easy. And to sit with someone and talk about his or her eventual death is a conversation most people do not want to have. Facing our own mortality is about the hardest thing most people will have to do. There is a finality about it that is difficult to grasp. Next, in most cases, we are talking about family. If it only involves spouse and one or two children, it may be simple enough. But often there are complications, such as a second marriage, step-children, and children with special needs, children who need financial assistance or protection and many variations of the above. Combine the above and it gets to be complicated. Guiding a conversation through this and coming up with a workable plan requires a very specific ability and skill set. There is a basic knowledge of the basic vehicles based on a certain set of circumstances, and of course, the ability to apply them to the matter at hand is certainly a necessary skill. Many lawyers have or can get these tools. Those alone, however, do not make for a great Estate Planning attorney. In addition to the technical and legal skills, there are two critical things that take it from competent to great. These are the ability to listen, and compassion. It is easy to gather the basic facts, suggest a course of action, and then set out to explain why it is the best way to go. But this just gets a will, or perhaps a trust. What takes it to the next level is being able to listen to the concerns of the person doing the planning. In most cases, they do not speak legal-ese. But they do speak from their heart. And it is what they say that permits the great Estate Planning attorney to go above and beyond a simple plan that puts a will or trust into place. And finally, there is compassion. This is the ability to empathize with the client and let them know you understand what they are going through. This is the ability to let them know that what they are experiencing is normal and that they need not feel bad. In fact, if they did not need something special, that they would be unusual. Bob Nennig has the technical skill set. But Bob has that next level of skills. Bob listens and does so with compassion. I have sent many people to Bob, and do so without hesitation, knowing my clients will get a great experience.
