April 10, 2021, was a day that I will never forget. That day, I was a restrained front-seat passenger of a vehicle traveling at approximately 70 miles per hour, when the vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle who were traveling at a higher speed. Upon the impact, the driver who was my friend lost her control, thus, causing it to swerve in the lanes of the highway. The vehicle flipped multiple times but ended back on its wheel. Immediately after the crash, I felt dazed with blurred vision, and felt sleepy. After a few moments, the police arrived along with the ambulance. An investigation was made and a police report was obtained. I didn't agree to be transported to the hospital, I went home hoping that I would feel better. Due to the unfortunate incident, I sustained personal injuries. I suffered from severe swelling on the right shoulder, lacerations on my neck and both legs, neck, and back pain, and uncontrollable headaches. The following day, I also noticed severe aching, pain, and discomfort. So I decided to let my symptoms resolve on their own. However, two days later, the pain persisted. My headaches had not improved, and I also noticed a lack of concentration and slowness in thinking. That was the moment that I decided to seek further medical care. I presented myself at Good Samaritan Hospital. At the hospital, I was evaluated, the diagnostic study was taken (CT scan of my head, X-ray), and I was recommended to see a neurological specialist. So I had a personal injury neurological consultation at the Inland Metro Medical Group where I had a physical examination, behavior examination, mental status examination, motor examination, and sensory examination. Afterward, a treatment plan was made. During the time, a course of medical observation was prudent. I was advised to avoid strenuous activities for the next four weeks. Also, I have been placed off school for four weeks. Lastly, I had a consultation with the PVK chiropractic clinic. At the clinic, I underwent various types of treatments/therapies consisting of massage therapy, cold/heat packs, chiropractic manipulative treatment, therapeutic exercises, ultrasound, mechanical traction, and electrical stimulation. Before the incident, I had already been diagnosed with depression. I believe that the incident had aggravated my depression. Since the accident, I had a hard time remembering things. I develop anxiety, feeling sleepy all the time, lack of concentration, and sleep disturbances. Most of the time I feel all alone. I had no interest in my daily activities, even with my studies. I was really sad. My mother couldn't understand the struggle I was facing. The only thing I always do is pray. I always pray for my mental and physical health. On the other hand, I always tried my best to be strong. Up to this day, I still have the fear of riding a vehicle. I think this is also a great opportunity for me to express my gratitude to the Beverly Law Firm. Thank you for handling my case during my darkest times. Thank you for being kind and professional.
