I contacted Attorney Damian Castañeda after finding him on Google. His response time was greatly appreciated. Especially compared to other inquiries I had made without a single returned call! Within 2-3 hours, he replied via text and referred me to another attorney who could help me with my particular situation, as my issue was out of his scope. I truly appreciate the attention to such a basic business practice - returning calls/responding to inquiries. Surprisingly, it's something other law firms lack, apparently. Thank you !!

Damian Castenada--what a wonderful surprise. An attorney who is caring and kind, and goes out of his way to be helpful. I had a contract dispute that I needed advice on. Not only did he give me advice on the aspects I was expecting--Small Claims Court, arbitration and mechanics liens--but he advised me on elder abuse as well as filing a complaint/claim with the state contractors license board and the state bar association. He also told me of local free legal services to help me craft my responses and complaints, as well as where to get Small Claims Court advice. He sent me pdfs on how to craft a case and how to present it to the judge. He sent me the law on various aspects of my case, so I had the rules to back up my claims. Before talking to him. I was very worried about a lien being put on our hone by an unethical contractor. After our discussion, I feel empowered to go after these scumbags. Thanks for being such a mensch, Damian.

A sewer lateral replacement contractor did a job without the city's inspection at my property 6 years ago, which came out to surface by the city's inspector in November 2023. I talked to a few attorneys to go after the contractor, but found out that it would cost me more in legal fees than what I would recover from the contractor if I pursued to a litigation. I almost gave up, but was still upset and frustrated. That's when Damian Casaneda of Casaneda & Company responded to my inquiry through Yelp. Damian let me know that he wouldn't be able to help me because he was in a different practice group, however, he would refer me to an excellent law firm he trusted, so that my initial consultation fee of $450 would be waived if he referred me. Even though I was not a client of Damian, he gave me his analysis of a summary of my situation very quickly, and further gave me very useful information and advice that I could use, such as filing a complaint with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) to resolve disputes with the contractor and its strategies. Then, a flow of advice kept coming in from Damian with overview of the CSLB process from the beginning through an arbitration, then to the small claims court. Damian even sent me the information on the No. 1 book to read to prepare for it and more information on a list of the contracts attorneys. Who does that for a person who is not even his client? Damian's advice helped me to figure out how to handle my situation. I can't thank Damian enough. If I need any real estate attorney in the future, I will not hesitate to contact Damian. Damian's work ethic and trustworthiness are truly genuine, and he is highly recommended.
