I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Brown as needed for the last 5 years on my Divorce as well as my Alimony Modification. Throughout this time, I have realized how fortunate I was to have him as my advocate. Despite the unprofessional and often shocking actions of the representatives of others, he and I continued to take the "high road" at all times. From the accuracy and perfection of all documents and correspondence, to his meticulously prepared, and articulately presented arguments in the Courtroom, he truly commands the respect and appreciation of all involved. There was never a time that I felt I was not involved in all the decisions regarding my case as I have heard from others regarding their counsels. Mr. Brown is an outstanding Attorney with expertise and understanding that comes from his significant experience as well as his own personal character qualities. We need more individuals like he to restore the legal system in this country to it's proper place. Respectfully, Gregg

My case was particularly convoluted and Chuck was on top of it throughout. He has restored my confidence in legal representation. His response time was very good and he offered a depth of experience and knowledge of the system that was commendable. He was very proactive and aggressive in seeking an outcome that was fair to my son & I. Chuck listened to my very complicated case and was able to accurately represent my position. I just wish I had found a lawyer like Chuck earlier. Finally, given the level of service, he could be charging much more than he does. The fact that he doesn't should tell you something about his character.

Bettina was fantastic. I wouldn't say our divorce was messy, but it was very emotional and a bit complicated, especially with respect to custody. Bettina really helped us through the tough conversations, and we both ended up with an aggreement we were happy with. What's more, Bettina actually caught mistakes in our agreement that our own lawyers had missed. Would definitely recommend.

Anthony J. Titone has been our lawyer for over 15 years. He has negotiated numerous family and business legal proceedings with excellent outcomes, each and every time. Unlike many other lawyers who charge for every pencil stroke, Mr. Titone's fees are up front, very fair and well deserved. As a former City Attorney and Municipal Prosecutor, he has long standing relationships in the Broward and Palm Beach community legal systems. He is also an excellent mediator and arbitrator. With over 44 years of trial experience as Lead Trial Counsel, you'd be amazed to see this man in action in a courtroom. Well respected in his community, he also serves on his HOA board and is actively involved in his local parish. A father of two and grandfather to 3, Anthony is a well rounded family man, who enjoys family and friends, all of whom hold him in high regard. This man has literally cleared a path of peace in our lives. He is always proactive, responsive and organized and carefully moves step by step through the process of solving any legal issue. Call him first. You will be very pleased that you did.

Ben is very caring, honest, a great listener and straightforward lawyer. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about the law - he provided me with step by step guidance on how to proceed with my case so I was able to present my case logically and efficiently. I would be at lost and could have not done it without his help. If only my request to continue motion/extension was granted, Ben would be the one to represent me. He only wants what’s best for me, he went above and beyond Professional and responded promptly to all my questions and concerns and explained possible outcomes for different scenarios. I consulted with Ben twice, he didn’t charge me the first time, and on the second time, I expect that he will charge me for his service to some degree and yet he didn’t charge me again! Many people are tempted to be selfish and do what only benefits themselves - Ben is the complete opposite. I thank you Ben for your help and kindness. I recommend Ben 100% as exceptional attorney.

Attorney Dayton King from Victim's Safe Harbor Foundation out of Mount Dora, FL was the BEST attorney I've ever had on my 3 year journey through family court! He and his wife and partner, Mrs. Donna King, worked SO hard on my custody case and I ultimately won everything I asked for! They put their ALL into what they do... And I can PROMISE you this: they will approach your case with a genuine sympathy and caring attitude. They will listen to your concerns and counsel you wisely but with TRUE empathy. It is not just about the paycheck for this organization. It is personal. This couple KNOWS domestic violence. And specifically, they understand the form that domestic violence takes on in a custody dispute. It is so important for victims to have a means of representation that not only knows the law, but is extremely educated about D.V. I can say with 100% certainty that my child and I would not be where we are today without them. They helped to change our lives in the best possible way. They are lower cost as well. Something that many struggling mothers who are victims of D.V. need. Contact them!

Rob did pro bono work for me for just one hearing and he sure didn't have to do what he did for me and my family. Oh but how he helped us in that one day. I found Rob to be compassionate, brilliant, clever, and really experienced and knowledgeable in a court room. We will never forget how he helped us. We are forever grateful. Most attorneys would not have bothered to give us their best in our situation the way Rob did.

When I had to fire my prior divorce attorney, I didn't know where to start. I completely lost faith in all lawyers, but Richard Feinberg managed to rebuild my trust and helped me to navigate through my complicated divorce. Finding a reliable, honest and dedicated attorney is not an easy task. The process itself can be as tiresome, complicated and confusing. Richard Feinberg put my mind at ease by clearly explaining my options and providing sound legal advice on how to proceed—always mindful that my son was involved. He proved to me that he wanted to protect me as his client and defend my rights, not by words but by his actions. He took the time to listen to all my concerns and provided honest, straightforward answers. Richard did everything in his power to complete my case with the sole purpose of trying to get me as much money as possible and making sure I would be happy with the outcome. I trust him as I would trust my own father.

Compassion, what does that mean these days? It's defined as a sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. I disagree. I, personally, what describe it has caring for another human being relating to or understanding one situation. My case started when I was blindfoldedly hit with a custody modification ask me back then and I would not have a clue as to where to start telling you what this meant. However, what I did know was that this was going to be very close to my heart, in fact, better said this is my whole world that they were putting on the stand. First court date had a little hiccup and I was a tad bit concerned; I mean after all this is my whole world. The trial.... Mr. Inserni was fantastic. He was absolutely fantastic every angle he killed it, every witness he tore apart, and the one thing I will never forget is what he told me from the beginning... I'm not here to attack the opposing party I'm here to defend you. That's exactly what he did I highly recommend this attorney he is compassionate, professional, prompt, and precise. If it's family law, he will kill it out there.

Tom has been by far the best attorney we have had! He had a very short amount of time to prepare for our case during a holiday week he worked diligently to gain the knowledge and understanding of every aspect as well as remain engaged to any questions or concerns we had along the way! We never felt rushed or that our concerns were not important with Tom. He explained every legal aspect in terms we could clearly understand and what that meant moving forward. He far exceeded every expectation we had!! He changed so many lives by helping us with our case and we are just so very thankful for him!

Tara Sain is an honest, knowledgeable, and compassionate lawyer. I feel I had a somewhat complex case and had already been to one lawyer that just didn't work out. I was reluctant “shopping” around for another one thinking I was just going to hear the same BS I heard from the first one. When I emailed Tara’s firm questioning their costs and procedures I immediately got a call from there paralegal who was very pleasant and clearly explained everything over the phone. The very next day I was scheduled to have a consult with Tara. After talking to her for I believe an hour and a half I knew I was going to retain her as my lawyer. Tara listened to everything I had to say without interruptions and gave me her honest feedback and thoughts on ways to proceed. I never felt rushed or like I was wasting her time, in fact I actually felt she genuinely cared about my situation. To make a long story short from day one Tara knew what my end goal was and within 6 weeks of starting something I thought would never end we had signed documents and our separation was final. I can’t say enough about Tara, she and her office impressed me from the get go with their promptness and overall concern for me and my outcome. I would recommend Tara Sain and the Mcilveen Family Law Firm to anyone in the Charlotte and surrounding area.

What a Child Support Lawyer Can Do for You

A child support lawyer specializes in legal issues related to the financial support that one parent provides to another for the upbringing of their children. These lawyers assist with establishing, enforcing, and modifying child support orders, ensuring that the financial needs of the child are met, including housing, food, healthcare, education, and other essentials. A child support lawyer can also represent parents in disputes over the amount of support, ensure fair calculations based on income, and handle legal proceedings if one parent fails to meet their obligations.

Whether you're seeking to establish child support, modify an existing order, or enforce payments, a child support lawyer can help you navigate the legal system and protect your rights and the well-being of your child.

When Should I Hire a Child Support Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a child support lawyer when you need assistance with any of the following child support matters:

  • Establishing child support: If you are going through a divorce or separation and need to establish a child support order, a lawyer can help ensure that the support amount is fair and accurately calculated.
  • Modifying child support orders: If there has been a significant change in circumstances, such as a job loss, income change, or a child's financial needs, a lawyer can help you request a modification to the existing child support order.
  • Enforcing child support payments: If the other parent has failed to make court-ordered child support payments, a lawyer can help enforce the order through legal means such as wage garnishment, property liens, or even legal action.
  • Disputing child support calculations: If you believe the child support amount has been incorrectly calculated based on your income or expenses, a lawyer can help you challenge the calculation and seek a fair adjustment.
  • Paternity disputes: If paternity needs to be established before child support can be ordered, a lawyer can assist with DNA testing and legal proceedings.
  • Interstate child support cases: If the parents live in different states, navigating child support laws can be complex. A lawyer can help ensure the proper jurisdiction is established and that child support is enforced across state lines.
  • Child support during custody disputes: If child custody and child support are being determined simultaneously, a lawyer can help ensure that both issues are resolved fairly and in the best interest of the child.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your child support case is handled effectively and that your child's financial needs are met.

What Does a Child Support Lawyer Do?

A child support lawyer provides a variety of legal services to help parents secure, modify, and enforce child support arrangements. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing for child support: A lawyer can help you initiate the legal process to obtain a child support order, ensuring that all necessary documentation is submitted and deadlines are met.
  • Calculating child support: A lawyer can help ensure that child support is calculated fairly based on both parents' incomes, the needs of the child, and other factors such as healthcare and education costs.
  • Negotiating child support agreements: If both parents are willing to negotiate, a lawyer can help facilitate an agreement on child support outside of court, which can then be approved by a judge.
  • Representing you in court: If negotiations fail or the other parent contests the child support amount, a lawyer will represent you in family court, presenting evidence and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Modifying support orders: A lawyer can help you file a request for modification if circumstances change, such as a loss of income or an increase in the child’s financial needs.
  • Enforcing child support: If the other parent is not making court-ordered payments, a lawyer can take legal steps to enforce the order through wage garnishment, property liens, or other measures.
  • Handling complex cases: In cases involving high incomes, self-employment, or complicated financial situations, a lawyer can help ensure that all relevant factors are considered in determining child support.

How Are Child Support Lawyers Paid?

Child support lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work required. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Most child support lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. The total cost will depend on how much time the lawyer spends on your case, including preparation, negotiations, and court appearances.
  • Flat fee: For more straightforward cases, such as uncontested child support agreements or basic modifications, some lawyers may offer a flat fee that covers all services related to the case.
  • Retainer: Many lawyers require a retainer, which is an upfront payment that is billed against as the lawyer works on your case. The amount of the retainer depends on the expected complexity of the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some lawyers offer sliding scale fees based on income or provide pro bono (free) services in cases where clients cannot afford to pay full legal fees, especially when children’s needs are at stake.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will be charged and what services are covered.

How Much Does a Child Support Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a child support lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, whether it's contested or uncontested, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost estimates include:

  • Uncontested child support cases: Legal fees may range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the paperwork and the lawyer’s fees.
  • Contested child support cases: Legal fees can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, especially if the case involves significant court time.
  • Hourly rates: Lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour for child support cases, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases that involve complex financial issues.
  • Modification or enforcement: Fees for modifying or enforcing a child support order may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the complexity and the need for court intervention.

Always ask for a detailed cost estimate during your consultation so you can plan your budget accordingly.

Top Questions to Ask a Child Support Lawyer

Before hiring a child support lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they are the right fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with child support cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s establishing, modifying, or enforcing child support orders.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, offers flat fees, or requires a retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and any potential challenges you may face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Child support cases can take time, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what factors may cause delays.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case and representing you in court.
  6. What documents should I prepare?
Ask the lawyer what financial documents and other information you should bring to help them calculate child support and build your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Child Support Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable child support lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for family law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in family law and have successfully handled child support cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on child support matters.
  • Check for certifications: Some lawyers may have certifications in family law or membership in organizations like the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), which can indicate their expertise in child support and family law issues.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a child support lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Income documents: Bring pay stubs, tax returns, W-2s, or any other documentation of your income and the other parent’s income, as this will be used to calculate child support.
  • Existing child support orders: If there are any existing child support or custody orders, bring copies for the lawyer to review.
  • Child-related expenses: Provide documentation of your child’s medical bills, education expenses, daycare costs, and any other expenses that should be factored into the child support calculation.
  • Communication with the other parent: Bring any communication between you and the other parent regarding child support, whether through emails, text messages, or written agreements.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions about your case, the legal process, and the lawyer’s fees.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
